Good Christian Reading

This is a great story with fabulous characters, but is produced by Christian book company. Wish I would have known that. I was not comfortable with the numerous religious/spiritual references in the story.

The title is such a great metaphor for this book!

Susan May Warren teaches about the "Why nots" for a hero and heroine getting together and the two in this story have some of the most why nots I've seen in a book in some time! Yet Tamera Alexander expertly helps us see how this unlikely couple might indeed end up together in the end. I saw there were 200+ reviews of the book on Amazon and there is a reason for that! Great narration, too, by Robin Miles. I was so very glad I had this book to listen to while I was recently ill--I'd thought I'd listen to all of Tamera's books after I started listening to them about a year ago. Was I ever glad to discover that this gem hadn't yet been "read" by me.

Moving Word Pictures

I loved the way Tamera Alexander painted the scene so you felt like you were standing across the valley from the cliff-dwellings or looking at the twin sister mountains to the Rockies. I could imagine myself out west, being a pioneer along with her characters. The book remained suspenseful without seeming forced and her characters were inspirational, giving me quotes to remember and live by.
I loved this book and enjoyed listening to parts of it with my children.

Not what I thought

Slow moving, VERY slow. Didn't like the narrator. I don't think I'm going to bother finishing this book.

Good historical novel

Excellent book. Kept my attention throughout and made me ponder, how we are so quick to judge when we only know one side.

This is the one that made me fall in love

Many years ago I visited my local library and judged a book by its cover. I knew it was from a publishing house that I liked and was the right genre. I fell in love with this author's writing and have devoured every book of hers since. I decided to get the audiobook and recapture the magic of this series. The audiobook did not disappoint. Now on to the next audiobook in the series. Yay!!

Loved it

It was nice to read a clean romance with a good historical back story. I will definitely read more.

The characters were realistic

Post war scenes were well felt with. Description of territory where the story takes place was good.
