    "Good Christian Reading"

This is a great story with fabulous characters, but is produced by Christian book company. Wish I would have known that. I was not comfortable with the numerous religious/spiritual references in the story.

"The title is such a great metaphor for this book!"

Susan May Warren teaches about the "Why nots" for a hero and heroine getting together and the two in this story have some of the most why nots I've seen in a book in some time! Yet Tamera Alexander expertly helps us see how this unlikely couple might indeed end up together in the end. I saw there were 200+ reviews of the book on Amazon and there is a reason for that! Great narration, too, by Robin Miles. I was so very glad I had this book to listen to while I was recently ill--I'd thought I'd listen to all of Tamera's books after I started listening to them about a year ago. Was I ever glad to discover that this gem hadn't yet been "read" by me.

    "Moving Word Pictures"

I loved the way Tamera Alexander painted the scene so you felt like you were standing across the valley from the cliff-dwellings or looking at the twin sister mountains to the Rockies. I could imagine myself out west, being a pioneer along with her characters. The book remained suspenseful without seeming forced and her characters were inspirational, giving me quotes to remember and live by.
I loved this book and enjoyed listening to parts of it with my children.

    "Not what I thought"

Slow moving, VERY slow. Didn't like the narrator. I don't think I'm going to bother finishing this book.

    "Loved it!"

I love Tamera Alexander's books, especially when it is a part of a series and I can look forward to staying in the larger story for a while with subsequent books. Fantastic, multidimensional characters and beautiful, descriptive settings make the book great and the narration was just perfect!

    "wonderful book!"

i will never tire of Tamera Alexander's books! they hold my attention as very few books can. Her ability to "bring alive" days of the distance past is almost indescribable. She is truly a gifted writer. I also greatly appreciated the one who narrated this treasure of a story. i eagerly look forward to continuing on the journeys portrayed... wonderfully written by Tamera Alexander

    Any additional comments?

This is a wonderful series. Sorry when each book ended. I only wish the returuning character in each book would have stronger roles. You really get to know each one from previous novels, and want to hear from them again. While Robin Miles did a good job, I would like to hear Ms Alexander's novels read by Tavia Gilbert. She's terrific at bring a story to life!
