Publisher's summary

What do you do with a person who's out of control and won't listen to reason? Especially if that person might be you?

When I'd taken Hope Sinclair and her sister to New Zealand to meet my grandfather, I'd known I'd be making the return journey as her husband. I hadn't reckoned, though, on the demons of my past coming back to threaten our future. And, as always, I hadn't reckoned on Hope.

I had hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of employees to tell me I had better judgment and more self-discipline than most people, and neither my self-control nor anything else I possessed had been won the easy way. That was why I was a New Yorker with a fashion empire instead of a dirt-poor Maori boy in New Zealand with too much tattoo, too many muscles, two alcoholic parents, and not much more. So why did Hope continually dig in her heels and refuse to go along with my perfectly rational plans? And why did I keep compromising?

Because I couldn't resist her, couldn't say no to her, and couldn't stand to see her unhappy, that was why. And there's more than one way to bring a strong man to his knees.

Note: This book contains one Maori multimillionaire with control issues, one fierce blonde with a mind of her own, and some very dirty loving.

Hemi and Hope; Still Works in Progress

Any additional comments?

Clearly a work in progress; the trials and tribulations in the relationship between Hope and Hemi continue in "Fractured," the quick reading and enjoyable second installment of the three book, "Not Quite a Billionaire" series. The bad news: it is a cliffhanger, something I always find annoying. The good news is that the third will hopefully be on Audible shortly and, if a reader can’t wait, is already available as an eBook.

The relationship between Hope and Hemi has never run particularly smoothly and this is still the case. Though their love is deep and their sex life extremely hot and adventurous, Hope and Hemi's expectations of what a relationship should be are quite different. This repeatedly leads to conflict and disappointment, never more than when a blast from Hemi's past blows in and complicates matters more. Both of the lead characters can be frustrating. Though Hemi has progressed some from where he was at the beginning of Fierce, he is still very much an alpha male who is sure he knows best. He manipulates Hope and situations to serve his own goals, and keeps key secrets from Hope. None of this works to his advantage. For her part, Hope is still a bit too pliant when it comes to their relationship, though she does try hard to stand up for herself and her beliefs. There are at least a few incidents in the book that make me want to shake her and I wonder why she doesn’t just leave.

My favorite character is Karen, Hope's sister, and I appreciate the growth in her from Fierce to Fractured. She is funny and I really enjoyed her observations. Her character rings true. In many ways, I feel like Karen reflects the reader's point of view when it comes to Hope, Hemi and their relationship. I also very much enjoy Hemi’s grandfather. He is an old soul. Anika Cavendish is appropriately dislikable.

The narration by Emma Wilder is good and, for better or worse, reflects the characters and their strengths and weaknesses.

I enjoyed the book and recommend it, especially for fans of Rosalind James and hot romances. I found it fast moving and it hooked me, though it took me a few chapters to really settle in. The sexual content of the book is very spicy, occasionally graphic and a bit kinky; something to be aware of if this isn’t to a reader’s taste. I look forward to listening to the final installment of the series.

I was given a free copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions stated are my own.

Can't wait for the final installment!

"Fractured" is the second book in Rosalind James' Not Quite a Billionaire series, and it's a GOOD one. If you enjoyed the first book, "Fierce," you will relish this read even more! Hope & Hemi have some very real issues to work out (along with some other issues that are not quite so commonplace - he is, after all, a billionaire...), and all is definitely not "Happily Ever After" in this book. As always in Rosalind's books, family is central to the story, and it's enjoyable to read about the trials and tribulations created by melding lives together, along with everything else that life throws in - including a LOT of steam generated by Hope & Hemi! The narration by Emma Wilder is excellent - it's hard to believe that ONE WOMAN is capable of all of the voices in this audiobook - she is very, very good! I cannot wait for the conclusion of this series!

Love it!!!

What made the experience of listening to Fractured the most enjoyable?

This was an amazing book and a even more amazing audio book. I think Emma Wilder did such a good job narrating. She does male and female voices great as well as the different accents. And of course Rosalind James had another success. This is the 2nd audiobook in this series and I can't wait for the 3rd one. This book had me listening every spare moment that I was able to until I was done. I received a free copy of this book, but would have purchased it even if I didn't ,in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.”

Fractured but definitely not broken!

In "Fractured" Hemi and Hope face many challenges in their personal and professional lives. Hemi, is to controlling and won't listen to Hope. Hope, is stubborn and wants to prove herself. I actually listened to this book in one day! My main problem with this book is that the story/conflict is a bit repetitive. I enjoyed Emma's narration on Hope but I did not like her when she narrated Hemi. I cannot wait to read the end of Hope and Hemi on Rosalind's next book on this series.

After I Love You,...

Any additional comments?

I just finished this book and I'm speechless because it is not at all what I expected.

What I expected was a part 2 in a three part series that was like all the others, where basically it is like the middle of the book and not very satisfying. That's definitely not what I got.

I was happy with how part one ended and had no burning desire to see what happened to Hope and Hemi next, mainly because I enjoyed how I could see how the story ran parallel to the book in which it first appeared as a story within a story, the Escape to New Zealand book Just in Time. When I got to the first obstacle for Hope and Hemi in this book, I thought...."oh no, I'm going to have to skim this because I don't like people from the past being drug into my good stories to mess things up."

That, however, did not happen. What happened was a lot of working through things that had little to do with that past person, and everything to do with what Hemi and Hope needed to do to make things work now. Just like in the first installment, this book does deliver the promise to those who like to read erotic romance, but it also adds so much more because the emotions are moving the story forward. In this case, the emotions just happen to result in some very, very intense encounters.

Needless to say, there was no skimming involved in this book once I got into it and I couldn't put it down until I was finished. It does contain a cliffhanger, but there is an end date in sight and it's not long. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

After the Happy Ever After!!

Any additional comments?

This is the 2nd installment of a Trilogy of Hope and Hemi's story and is not a stand alone book. So, you have to read Fierce first to understand their story.

Hope was the assistant to the photographer, and had an immediate attraction to the polite Maori clothing designer from New Zealand.

This story is the continuation of the story after the end of Fierce. We find out that there is less of a fairy tale ending, and more of just a beginning to the story that dives into Hope Sinclair's and Hemi TeMana's life. Hope and Hemi's expectations of what a relationship should be are quite different. This repeatedly leads to conflict and disappointment. Than when a blast from Hemi's past blows in and complicates matters more.

My favorite character is Karen, Hope's sister, she has growth from Fierce to Fractured. She is really funny and I have loved her outlook on life.
Emma Wilder does an outstanding job on the narration, and I can't wait to hear more from her.

Fractured, but can it be mended?

Any additional comments?

Fractured is part two of a three part series. It is a cliffhanger, but the last installment is close behind the end of this book. Hemi and Hopes story continues from New Zealand and then back to the USA. There is a lot of turmoil throughout this book. Hemi finds out he can't marry hope yet due to still being married to his ex-wife or who he thought was his ex-wife. Hope returns back to NY struggling to find her way working at Te Mana. Hemi and Hope are trying to work through a lot of conflict and giving up control. There is a lot of heavy steamy moments in this book and it was done so well! Karen continues to be apart of the story line and I just love the way she is growing up and how Rosalind always keeps family focused in her books.

Emma Wilder does another wonderful performance. I LOVE how she does Hemi so deep, and sexy. She covers all the characters voices so well!

Number 2....can't wait for 3

Would you listen to Fractured again? Why?

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I would definitely listen to this book again, especially right before the third one. I love the characters and would enjoy hearing them again.

What did you like best about this story?

I love watching Hope, Hemi and Karen all change and grow as characters. Everyone like a fairytale (except Hope!) and watching her date a billionaire is like a fairytale.

What about Emma Wilder’s performance did you like?

I haven't listened to Emma Wilder before but enjoyed the way she portrayed each character. I like how she makes each character distinctive and believable. I can definitely see the characters in my head when I am listening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

While I would love to listen to this all in one setting, I wasn't able to. If I truly had a day, I would. However, since it's a cliff hanger and we find out what happens in the next book, I would want to take my time with it to make it last longer!

What happens AFTER the Happily Ever After?

If you could sum up Fractured in three words, what would they be?

•What this book meant to me-how I felt about it
This is the 2nd installment of Hope and Hemi's story and is NOT a stand alone book. (The first book in the series was referenced in Rosalind James' recent book "Just in Time" in her Escape to New Zealand series. She introduced Hope and Hemi, who meet at a photoshoot for one of Hemi's company product lines. Hope was the assistant to the photographer, and had an immediate attraction to the polite Maori clothing designer from New Zealand. This story is the continuation of the story after the end of Fierce, when we find out "the rest of the story", as Paul Harvey would have said. We find out that there is less of a fairy tale ending, and more of just a beginning to the story that dives into Hope Sinclair's and Hemi TeMana's life.

We see lots of Hemi's baggage and backstory, which I really wanted to learn about. I find him to be one of Ms. James' most sophisticated and interesting characters of all of her books. He is fascinating, and I'm enjoying discovering how perfect for each other Hope and Hemi are through his misadventures and mistakes. She's his equal and sometimes (usually) forces him to see himself in the mirror.

One of the things I loved about the first book, Fierce, that I didn't see a lot of here, was Hope's strength and "fierceness", and I got mad at her - and Hemi - all too often. This is not the Happily Ever After story -but one that raises many questions and concerns about the HOW the two are going to learn to build their lives together, and reconcile some pretty big issues along the way.

This book ends in a cliffhanger, which I am normally not too keen on, but the author promises the final installment very closely behind the release of this book, so I'm not going to have too long to wait for resolution at least! There are still lots of issues to resolve in the final installment. I can't wait! Thanks Rosalind, for keeping me hooked!

The audio narration is a new performer, Emily Wilder, who is wonderful. I am honestly having a little bit of a hard time adjusting to someone new interpreting the characters and this is not a reflection on her talents, but I was just having difficulty getting into the book. This is not my favorite part of the trilogy to begin with, so that could be my own bias here.

It is hard to get used to a woman reading the Hemi's voice. He sounds so masculine in my own head when I read it the first time as a Kindle book and it's hard to reconcile that when a female is reading his character. I don't think Hemi talks in a whisper all the time – and that is what it sounds like. I'm not trying to compare her to the previous narrator who did the 1st book of the trilogy, (Claire Bocking), because I would not expect them to be identical. I think he sounds choppy and stiff – a lot in this book, and that could be part of his personality. There is a lot of tension between Hemi and Hope in this book and this could be how that is expressed. When Hemi's "thinking internally" and we hear his thoughts, there could be more emotion expressed.

•Emily does a great job going back and forth between the voices. You can definitely tell the difference between every character – all have different voices, and distinguished speech patterns and personalities.
•Voice quality –excellent – I had no trouble hearing or understanding what was read.
•Good pace, tone, and varied emotions demonstrated

Overall this is a great book, part of a wonderful trilogy, and I can't wait for the third and final installment (Found) to come out. Well done!

What did you like best about this story?

One of the things I loved about the book was when Hemi went to see his ex Anika and remained loyal to Hope and when he returned to Hope, he did not make excuses or try to hide the fact that he had Anika's scent all over him. He was able to explain to Hope what happened without sounding defensive. Hope believed in and trusted him that much more. Who wouldn't love that about a man?

Would you listen to another book narrated by Emma Wilder?

yes

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Working Relationships

Would you listen to Fractured again? Why?

Yes - very well narrated. Emma Wilder did a great job with all of the different voices for all of the characters. It is amazing that she can go from female to male as smoothly as she does. I have listened to other books that she has narrated and this by far, was her best work.

Any additional comments?

The continuation of Hope and Hemi's relationship is certainly put to the test in the second installment of the series. Hope is trying to find her way in the business world, but is not being taken seriously because of being Hemi's fiancé. There is a lot of turmoil in this book as they are all trying to figure out how life will work with Hope, Hemi and Karen living under the same roof. Hope is afraid to give any authority to Hemi in relation to Karen, however, he certainly puts his foot down more than once to remedy the situations.
There is, once again, a lot of steam between Hope and Hemi, but towards the end of the book, they both realize that "sexual steam" is not going to solve their problems.
There is a lot of growing up and life lessons in this book.
Once again, I am so happy that Rosalind decided to give Hope and Hemi their own series.
