Forever My Girl: The Beaumont Series, Volume 1 | [Heidi McLaughlin]

Forever My Girl: The Beaumont Series, Volume 1

I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after. I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I've poured my soul into my music, but I've never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile. And now I'm going back. After ten years. I hope I can explain that after all this time. I still want her to be my forever girl.

"I liked the story, but not the female narrator"
If you could sum up Forever My Girl in three words, what would they be?

Good Story. I liked the male narrator as he seemed to be able to capture the feel of the story appropriately. Female needed to remember that we don't always speak as if we are using our bedroom voice at breakneck speeds. I didn't like her at all. All of the Josey chapters were a waste to listen to. Sorry, but that is the point of audible version vs. print version. A good narrator is almost as important as a good story. I was dissappointed in that side, but I will still read the stories, just not listen to them if this female is included.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Greg Albany and Elizabeth Ann Rollins ?

Greg Albany - Yes. Elizabeth Ann Rollins - No,.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    I did.

    Any additional comments?

I wonder if the author ever listens to the audible version of their book to see if they would listen to the narrators reading it? If I were this author, I would want a redo.

    Story
"Forever My Girl was perfect. "

Forever My Girl is a beautiful, captivating second chance love story. The beginning of this book starts off with a massive amount of intense emotions that will seriously break your heart. Never have I had a book make me cry so much in the beginning. This book is about first loves, overcoming death, forgiveness, redemption, second chances, healing old wounds and mending hearts. This emotional journey, alternating between Liam and Josie’s POV, dealing with their grief over losing a friend and constantly reflecting back on the past. With each chapter told in alternating POVs, with flashbacks to their high school years, you really feel where Liam and Josie are both at, and at times it's devastating being in their heads, and seeing just how affected they are by Liam’s leaving and all of the consequences. Their love story, both as teenagers, and coming back together as adults after all of the pain that they have suffered, is incredibly emotional and absolutely beautiful! Liam and Josie were your typical high school sweethearts. Liam was the star quarterback and Josie was his own personal cheerleader. Together with their best friends Mason and Katelyn they were inseparable. Along the way you discover the reasons that led to Liam leaving Beaumont and Josie behind and pursuing his dream of becoming a musician. We feel both Liam and Josie’s emotions, fears, and sorrow. These are well-developed characters whose love for each other survived time and distance. They are both incredible lovable characters that tugged on my heartstrings, making my heart melt. They weren't the only characters that caught my attention though. Katelyn, Josie's best friend, was amazing. Facing the death of anyone is tough but she lost her husband that she shared two children with. I loved the way her friends rallied around her and took care of her. Overall this is a great book if you are looking for something a bit more emotional. Heidi McLaughlin, created a brilliant story of love, loss, and the journey to atonement. Within her words, you feel every emotion that goes through each character. She gave life to a story that I could easily see in my mind. The author really does an amazing job taking you through the trials of death, broken hearts, and the hope of a second chance at love. I loved this book!! It was such a sweet story!! Liam was amazing and hot!! I loved all the scenes especially with little Peyton and Noah. They made my heart melt into millions of pieces. I adored this book and would highly recommend.

"Good book if only they'd change female narrator"

I truly enjoyed the story. Some authors try so hard to add lot of twists and turn to spice up an over done story line but sometimes the drama gets to be too much. This book is entertaining and has just enough drama to have you guessing a bit. However I wish they had used different narrators. The man wasn't bad but the woman read with little feeling and sounded very rushed. Making the story lose some of it's feeling at times.

    "good story, horrible narrator"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

the male voice was ok, but the female narrator is, imo, is the worst. I enjoy audio books but the reader can sometimes, make or break the book.

    "Oh please!"

Too much drama for me. This is just an unbelievable story. He left her pregnant, stayed away for ten years, but she loved him so much that when he came back she forgave him. A little hard to believe. I know its a book, but come on.

    "an awesome story"

I loved this story line, the characters and flow. However, the girl narrator was sooo slow it almost ruined it for me, I increased the speed on her chapters and was a lot better. It was a bit of a pain because I liked the male narrator at regular speed so I switched back and forth between chapters, but helped me get through the book so it was worth it because I really enjoyed it the story

    "My Heart Fluttered"

I so love a book with a hot rock star. Then this book went deeper and it really hooked me. The story of what would happen if the boy you once loved came home after years away was told from both POV, in first-person, alternating narrators. It added to the feel of the story and I really enjoyed listening to it. There were definite moments went my heart went a fluttering.

What aspect of Greg Albany and Elizabeth Ann Rollins ’s performance would you have changed?

Female performance seemed flat line at intense moments.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This is a story of hope beautifully written.

"Loved this book can't wait till the 2nd comes"

**Spoilers don't read if you haven't read

I just finished this book and loved it. I listened to the Audible version. The narrators were fantastic and i love that the book was in Josie's view point and Liam's view point. I loved Liam and Josie and Katelyn and the kids. Noah was so cute I found myself grinning at some of the things he said. I felt like crying for Liam and how he never knew about Noah and all the years he lost without being with him and Josie. I absolutely hated Nick and Sam. I was glad when Sam got the boot and Nick finally faced reality and left. I found out that Book 2 was coming on Audible too so I'll wait for that before I get it. I normally don't listen to these kinds of books but I am glad I did.
