Harley Vincent is resigned to life in the human world. Sure, being a margay shifter is half her nature, but life among humans gives her the freedom to roam and do as she pleases. That is, until anti-shifter extremists target her, putting her life in immediate danger.
When an old acquaintance and onetime fling, Jesse Dalton, shows up to offer the protection of his pack, Harley hesitates. She may have feelings for Jesse that go beyond their one-night stand, but life among shifters means giving over her independence to the needs of pack. Plus Mercury Pack has its own threat to face: a rich half-shifter is determined to claim their territory at any cost.
Jesse, who lost his true mate as a child, has wanted Harley since their night together, and he's not letting her go again. They may not be destined for each other, but he knows she belongs to him and with his pack. Even if he can convince her to join him now, can he convince her to stay?

Books speak to the soul.
I loved the story but just too much SEX. I really do love it when there are sexy scenes as long as they enhance the plot but just to have it for sex's sake just doesn't do it for me. Sexy scenes are awesome as long as they are something that works within the plot. I just like a good story line. However, others might like it and I do have a fast forward button so that I can get back to the plot and I don't skip them all. It does make a 5 star book go down to 4 or 3 when it overwhelms the book at least for me it does.
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
This book made me mad at the Mercury pack, most of them started out as assholes to Harley at the beginning of the book. I was disappointed in the pack, who by now I consider my friends. They do turn around quickly, but it soured my enjoyment of the book. This was not one of my favorites from the series. I'm also not a fan of couples who have already been together, but then for some unknown reason separate, then get back together. Very few authors can pull this off. I still liked it okay and it made my day go by quickly at work, so there is that. I also love the kids, Willow had me cracking up. This is a series that should be read in order, starting with the Phoenix series. Narrator does an good job, and I would happily listen to anything she narrates.
I'm a huge fan but I have to say this was my least favorite in this series. Usually I can't put them down but with this one it just didn't grab me like all the others. It did make me begin to listen to the series from the beginning though!
forced myself to listen after the 1st hour, at 2 hours i had to stop. the story started up too fast, it was like the writer wanted to jump ahead. the male is just a bordeline abusive a**hole. couldn't listen to one more word. i really like Suzanne Wright's the other books a lot, that is why i gave it 2 hours of my life. but this is not worth a credit and i am returning it.
My name is Irene and I'm a lifelong bookaholic. A few years ago, I started adding audiobooks and I'm so happy I joined Audible in 2015 :-))
The author's and narrator's voices both sounded "off" in this book. I'm no prude as anyone who reviews my library can attest, but the inconsistencies in the storyline kept it from offsetting the heavy sex. ( ex: she's a musician performing at a nightclub; but at her mating ceremony she "doesn't like to be the center of attention". Where did I miss her stage fright or fear of performing? her angst and pushing herself to go out on the stage? Nada. Nichts. Nyet. If I'd read this book first, I would never have bought the others. I really got a feel in the work that Wright was spending time reading Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series (scents) and her Psy-Changeling series (cat & wolf shifters)....both of which are excellent.
This book is another shifter romance with the same pattern as The Phenix Pack. This book's couple are not true mates but they have a history that makes the mating work.
As with the Phenix pack and the first Mercury Pack, there is an enemy to fight, some interpack drama and seriously, hot dominant sex. Most of the past favorite characters are back and there is even some cameos with the Phenix pack.
As always, this narrator is brilliant. My only wish is that the story was longer and that the pattern of the plot wasn't quite as predictable but, #3 will be an auto download. Enjoy!

I like the book, it's an entertaining book series, I like the drama and suspense. And even though this was not my favorite book, the others have been more humorous.
And the sexscenes is not my speed, in my opinion it's almost like it's written by a man, even though the author is a woman. Because it's like his pleasure seems to be most important. But if you're a submissive you will probably like better than me.
Jill Redfield's narration breathed fire into the story. No way anyone could fall asleep listening to her. Every little innuendo was delivered flawlessly.
"Not as good as the other stories in the series."
I usually really enjoy Suzanne Wright's work, but I have to say this was very disappointing. I didn't particularly like either Harley or Jessie as characters, and the story itself was rather dull and predictable. I also found Jill Redfield's narration rather annoying. This book was definitely not up to par with the other books.
