Then one of Ric's clients turns femme fatale and tries to gun down an innocent man. Thanks to quick thinking and even quicker reflexes, Ric comes to the rescue, only to learn he's done a very good deed for some very bad people.
Suddenly, Ric finds himself deep undercover with Annie, working for notorious crime boss Gordon Burns. One mistake from Ric's painfully inexperienced partner and they're both dead.
FBI agent Jules Cassidy's life isn't in much better shape. For years the FBI has been trying to prove Gordon Burns's ties to terrorist activity. Now, thanks to Ric and Annie, Jules has found a way into the lion's den. But in the course of his investigation, he comes face-to-face with Robin Chadwick, the charismatic but self-destructive and closeted movie star for whom Jules feels a powerful attraction. Robin's in town promoting his latest film - and Gordon Burns is a star-struck movie buff.
With Robin and Jules' help, Ric and Annie are soon entrenched in Burns's organization, surrounded by killers who may already have executed an FBI infiltrator. Before long, the couple realizes that many more lives besides their own will be at stake if they make a false move. As the heat between them reaches dangerous levels, so do the risks they're willing to take - in the line of duty, for the sake of loyalty, and in the name of something that runs even deeper.

"There's plenty of laughs from the character's witty banter and romance of all possible shapes, sizes and persuasions....Brockman's strong sense of character and her successful mix of romance into an action-packed suspense thriller make this a memorable listen." (Publishers Weekly)
"Brockmanns romantic thriller translates splendidly to audio." (AudioFile)
I've loved Suzanne Brockmann's writing for years now and found it through listening to audiobooks. I don't always like it when there are 2 narrators, but this one worked well.
Since she's my favorite author I would compare this book with her others in her Troubleshooter series. They all have lots of action and romance and this one is no exception. Like most of her books, there are lots of strong characters and more than one couple with their own set of issues going on. You get a lot of bang for you buck.
Jules Cassidy is my favorite character because he's been in almost every book and I feel like I know him as a real person. Even though it's fiction, the relationship struggles and flawed heroes make you feel like there's hope for your own romance story. Jules and Robin's love story is the sweetest one of the series. I'm not gay so never really gave any consideration to their plight so this series has been a real eye-opener and even changed some of my views. Read her "Hot Target" first and "All through the Night" after this one for their whole love story. They also appear in some of her later books.
Yes. I'm a huge Brockmann fan and wait with bated breath for each new book. I've read the Troubleshooters books over and over.
Great narrators. They narrator most of her books and do a great job.
THIS IS ANOTHER EXCELLENT TROUBLESHOOTERS NOVEL. THIS ONE TELLS A COUPLE OF STORIES. YOU GET 2 NEW CHARACTERS AND THEIR STORY ALONG WITH JULES AND ROBIN. I WON'T GIVE ANYTHING AWAY HERE, BUT YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
This is the best of the 11 Troubleshooters books I've read so far. Robin and Jules love story was almost more romantic than Annie and Ric - but only because I'm a hetero female. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
No spoilers from me. I enjoy HOT, sexy books. No vampires, paranormal, 4 me.I'm running out this typeAudible-so on2 lighter romance/mystery.
Sure, but I'd recommend listening to the previous books in the Troubleshooters series.
I'm not sure why the author chose to introduce a whole new cast of characters in this book. There are so many other characters in the Troubleshooters and Team 16 'family' to get to know.
I also do not understand the authors fascination with including the character Jules in every book...I do not see how his character adds to the stories. I suspect there is an unnecessary agenda here.
The ending finale was pretty intense
Yes, but 15+ hours - wow!
Strong language and a few sexual situations
This is a great story but you will need to be openminded. I'm okay with all types of relationships but some of the love scene details between the male characters were a little to descriptive for me.
In addition to a good love story, the humor is excellent. The banter between the 4 main characters made me laugh out loud numerous times. There were so many twists and turns that I couldn't put it down I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Narration is great. Patrick Lawlor is the best.
