Publisher's summary

Delaney Hart has come a long way from her wild youth, dating tattooed bikers at her father's bar, The Bad Seed. But when his death pulls her back to Wildwood, California, she must stay to renovate the dive he left her. And also face the lies and secrets that sent her running ten years before.

When Wildwood's chief building inspector, Ethan Hayes, shows up on the property, Delaney doesn't recognize him. The last thing he wants to do is save the bar where his cousin died in a brawl. But the good boy from her past is all too willing to remind her of the bad girl she used to be. And one night of passion leaves them both in a compromising position.

The last place Ethan should be is in Delaney's bed. Guilt, family pressure, and plans for a brewpub of his own make shutting down The Bad Seed his top priority...until his feelings for Delaney interfere. Because her future depends on the success of the bar's renovation and his dreams are rooted in its failure, their forbidden romance may be destined for heartbreak.

Delaney and Ethan

I liked the way Delaney was unapologetically brazen with her past behavior and owned it, but also maintained that she was not that same kid trying to play at being an adult anymore. I was a little turned off by Ethan's dubiousness towards Delaney at their first meeting and instant attraction, and thought for sure his redemption would come sooner rather than later.
The audiobook narrator Tatiana Sokolov did an excellent job of portraying both sides of the story throughout the book.
As a side note... I read\listened to the two books in the series out of order, but enjoyed them both. I wish there were more than just the two books as it would be interesting to see how things progress with the changes happening in Wildwood.

Forbidden Fling by Skye Jordan

What made the experience of listening to Forbidden Fling the most enjoyable?

I appreciate the ability to listen to a book while on a long drive.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Delaney Hart. She had confidence to spare.

Have you listened to any of Tatiana Sokolov’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I liked the scene where Ethan's grandfather reads him the riot act about how he's being selfish.

Any additional comments?

FORBIDDEN FLING, the first book in Skye Jordan's Wildwood series starts the series off strong. This opposites attract story about the bad girl who shakes everyone up when she comes back to town, including all-around good guy, Ethan Hayes. As the title alludes, these two are not just opposites, a romance... or even a fling, between them is pretty much taboo and literally forbidden by some who believe they have the right to intervene. But Ethan has always had a thing for Delaney Hart even when she never even looked his way back in the day... so not her type. This good guy not only has it bad for the Delaney, he's got a naughty side (and a delicious dirty mouth) and she can't resist, but falling in love isn't something either of them planned on.

There's all kinds of drama in this one and for much of the book I was admittedly wondering how this impossible situation could ever work out well for anyone. But Ms Jordan worked some magic and pulled off an incredible story. Well written and paced, fully-developed characters, some scorching hot sex scenes, and one tough woman who takes on City Hall despite all the odds against her. I listened to the audiobook version and enjoyed the narrator's performance. 4 stars

Forbidden is not always a bad thing!!!

Forbidden Fling. Perfect title for this story and it was definitely a great read.
Delaney Hart ran out of Wildwood as fast as she could when the town turned on her. She changed her image and put the past behind her, but now she was back and people are not happy.
Ethan Hayes is the good son who made a "mistake," in his family's eyes, and he has been working on fixing things for 10 years. His family blames him for the tragedy that ran Delaney out of town.
Ethan and Delaney are suppose to be on opposite sides, but when Ethan runs into Delaney again, he remembers all the years that he was attracted to her. He doesn't tell her who he is and hopes that things could change.
Holy HAWTNESS! Delaney and Ethan have the chemistry, but there is more to it. They have something that they never knew they were looking for. And the only issue is everyone that is standing in their way. They have to sneak time together, but they never know if they are going to be able to make it through the meeting without complications.
The sense of family dynamics is so screwed up for these two and they have to decide if it is worth the risk.
The chemistry, friendship, struggles, and pain that the two share will keep you holding on for a HEA. But they have to decide if they are going to fight through the struggles or walk away. You can't choose their path because they didn't know it themselves.

4 Star Average

Enjoyable with a unique setting and backstories. This was my first time reading a book by Skye Jordan and she definitely can write a creative and well-developed story. My only struggles with this particular story were the inconsistencies in Ethan's character or, more specifically, a few actions that didn't feel true to his character. The other is the abrupt ending to the story with (more-than-likely) a continuation of some loose ends in subsequent books. The romance tied up nicely with a hfn ending, but I was left feeling a tad frustrated with no recourse to the villainous activities of a few of the other characters. Regardless, I have no problem continuing with the next book, but it was worth mentioning.

Audio: Narrator did a nice job, but since I had just finished listening to a series by Tatiana Sokolov, it took me a bit to shift the characters over in my head.
