Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Night Huntress series comes a breathtaking new journey to the dark side of desire.

The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows - her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield - and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family’s past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness - and a demon shape-shifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who lusts for a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human - even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the nightmare together, because once the first crimson drop falls, they will both be lost.

Great!! I Listened to This Book After Reading It

Even though I'd already read it I wanted to HEAR it. After being caught up in the story and voices (which the narrator did a fantastic job in) of Jeaniene Frost's 'One Foot in the Grave' I just couldn't wait to hear Spade and Denise in this book. I wasn't disappointed!! Once again the narrator did a great job of capturing the characters and bringing the story to life. I highly recommend this book and will definitely listen to it again!!

This book has made me a Frost addict

Would you listen to First Drop of Crimson again? Why?

Yes. The story was great and I saw everything she described. I had no idea I had any imagination left to enjoy a book with out a live action film being attached to it.

What other book might you compare First Drop of Crimson to and why?

none other unless other frost books.

Which scene was your favorite?

The hook up in the park with the first bite. That was...well...great!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

I only bought this book because it was $4.95 and I needed something to pass the time as I had already finished all the sookie books and was waiting for my next credit to start the twilight new moon book. I had no idea this book was going to be so good! I finished it and realized that it wasn't even the first in the series and though I was shortly introduced to cat & bones I "had" to check them out. I am now cracking out on the night huntress book and can not stop listening even if I have to pay full member price because I cannot wait for credits!

Danille and Spade almost as good as Cat and Bones

Would you listen to First Drop of Crimson again? Why?

Yes, because the witty funny suspenseful story.
I liked it as much as Red Reaper (Cat and Bones) series. Another great Frost and Gilbert collaboration.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Daniele. Just like when Cat first met Bones, seeing Daniele deal with Spade and the monster world is both suspenseful and amusing.

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

As always a great performance

Any additional comments?

If you like Bones and Cat get this book.

Fun Read -- In Spades!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would. Jeaniene Frost is an excellent writer who's story telling is enhanced by an excellent performance by Ms Gilbert. Between the crisp dialogue and well-developed plot complemented by mature writing and the superb narration, it's an audio book well worth it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of First Drop of Crimson?

When Denise finally realized her connection with Spade and letting herself become a part of his life, in every way :)

Which scene was your favorite?

See above!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I think my extreme reaction was not so much the book as how much I loved the narrator. She was wonderful...great voices, great accents, intonation and inflection. My favorite narrator to date. I'll listen to her anytime (and in fact, am right now).

Any additional comments?

Ms. Frost is an excellent writer in a genre that is fraught with poor writing. She has class, style, a strong voice, has created a culture with her characters and gives them depth.

Fantastic as usual!

Loved it, not as much as the first 4 books of Night Huntress. Much better narration of voices for male characters. I just can't get over the voice used for Bones, I wish so much I could.

Most Awsome Story

Where does First Drop of Crimson rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very high up on my list of "Must Have" books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Spade. He is drawn into a situation he wants no part of but sees it through to the very end.

Have you listened to any of Tavia Gilbert’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to the first 4 Night Huntress books before this one and Tavia is perfect in all of them. He readings are spot on. She should narrate all books that require a female reader.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I loved this book. The first time Spade and Denise make love is very intense. Also when Denise says good bye to Randy at his grave site is touching and brought a tear to my eye.

Any additional comments?

Anyone sho has listened to the Night Huntress books MUST listen to this one. It goes a long way to explain the back story of Spade and how he came to this point in his undead life. I loved every second of this book and listened to it in 3 sittings. I will be listening to it again. It is THAT good.

Satisfying

I have previously read this book when it came out 9 years ago. I miss the Night Huntress World series. So, after I listened to the newly released Ian and Veritas’ story, I listened to this. I still really enjoyed this story. Frost’s books are so page turningly delightful, gripping, and heart warming I just spent the last 3 hours finishing it when I meant to do other things today.

The performance was delightful, even if I wasn’t happy with the accent employed for the character of Bones. I know he’s a Cockney guttersnipe, but he shouldn’t sound like a caricature or Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Other than that, I was extraordinarily pleased with the book.
