Publisher's summary

Two years ago, geologist Corinthians Avery had brazenly sneaked into a hotel room to seduce Dex Madaris, head of Madaris Explorations and the longtime object of her affection. But the man who emerged from the shower to find Corinthians clad in next to nothing was handsome foreman Trevor Grant. When a smug Trevor informed her that Dex was not only absent from the trip, but at home happily married, Corinthians was mortified.

Now, stuck in South America on a business trip with Trevor, Corinthians tries to avoid him at all costs. If only his broad shoulders and wickedly sexy smile didn't send her senses into flames. Their hotel falls under terrorist attack, and Corinthians has no choice but to place her trust in Trevor. As the two make a daring escape into the war-torn streets, fear for their lives suddenly turns to feverish desire, as they both give in to the hottest danger of all. What neither of them realizes is that one sultry night of passion under the luminous Latin skies will change their lives forever….

Could've skipped this one

I've read them all in order up to this point and I hated this one! The staccato narration for effect was annoying in this one. The story was a reach and the ending was the exact same as all the others. I think this is where I stop reading this series. LOVED the books prior to this one. But she could've kept this mess. Don't waste your credit.

It's Thing not Thang

Is there anything you would change about this book?

If I could change anything, it would be the narrator. Corinthians and some of the other characters sounded mechanical. Like there was a period after each word. It made it so hard to listen to the book. He also prefers to say "thang" over "thing". I had to pull out the book to verify it wasn't written that way which would have made no sense since these are educated and successful characters.

If you’ve listened to books by Brenda Jackson before, how does this one compare?

This is my second audio book from Brenda Jackson in this series, and I have the same complaint about the narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Peter Ohms’s performances?

No. I will read the book before I listen to him again.

A Real Man

Enjoyed the story line. However just having completed the book prior, the word for word repetition of several scenes was a bit much. The narrator seems to have difficulty with some of the characters. The pauses in between the words of some of them are a bit much and take away from the vibe. Overall it was a good read. My favorite part was the cave the nite Corinthians was cold after washing her blanket when Trevor picked her up and cuddled for warmth.

Will always LOVE Ms. Jackson, but not the narrator

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I love all of Ms. Jackson's books enough to buy the book and audio version so I can listen to my favorites when I want to..unfortunately. Ms. Ohms does not do the story telling justice. He speaks so slow and with hardly any emotion. It's like listening to a special needs kid tell a story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Corinthians and Trevor, how can you not...mis-communication, unrequited love, denial, and eventually acceptance..what's not to love..but Ashton is the best. Although his part is small in this book, I looked forward to reading his story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Peter Ohms’s performances?

I'm not sure. While I love Ms. Jackson's books, I'm not getting the same goose bumps and complete interest that I have when reading the actual books. This is the 3rd book so far that I've purchased with lack luster effects. I'm not sure if I will continue to spend the money even if it's a small amount.

Was Fire and Desire worth the listening time?

It was worth it to hear one of my favorite stories come to life, but the "come to life" is what I had the problem with..the narrator is just so dry.

Any additional comments?

While I am sure that Mr. Ohms is a great narrator for some other genre of books, he is not doing Ms, Jackson's books any justice for us die hard fans. If he could get better or Ms. Jackson could entertain another narrator, I think this would help immensely.

Loved the book, but not like the printed version

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend it to a friend. It is my favorite book. It has steamy, romance with a little mystery thrown in for good measure.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the hero and herorine. I loved how they interacted. He was strong but gentle she was tough but loving. A very good mix between the two. I also like the mystery surrounding them it gave it an extra feel instead of it just being a romance

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The performance is ok. I would like for once to have an audio book with both male and female readers to give it a more realistic sound.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

You couldn't keep me out of the movie house if it is done right.

Any additional comments?

This is my favorite book, so I was glad it was on audio until I started following it along and noticed it left out a whole section of the book. I thought maybe it was messed up in the download but no there is atleast 3 to 4 paragraphs missing from the printed version to the audio version. As this is my first time with an audio book. I'm hoping that they are all like that.

The narrator..killing me!

The story is good, it is the typical BJ. I enjoyed the story, although I must admit I am more drawn to the Westmorelands. Warning..the narrator is going to take some serious getting use to. If he says "thang" one more time I am going to scream...lol. The narrator tends to make parts of the story seem very theatrical. Maybe he is going to get better, but I don't really think I am going to be able to take more of Peter. It took me almost a week to listen to this story, and that is really telling. Normally it is difficult of turn off her audio books without finishing them.

Monotone

I read this story when it first came out and I loved it, so much so that I wanted to do a reread! However, I was totally disappointed with this product. The narration was horrible. I don't know any college educated people, Marine Captains , or business executives who say thank for think, mo for more, come-mere for come here, or gowin for going, nor do I recall it actually being written that way. Not only did he not have a feel for the characters but his pace was annoyingly slow. If I hadn't previously read the story myself I would have stopped after the first chapter. So sad because this is really a great book.

Narration is Bad!

The narration of this book made all the characters sound as if they were remedial. The story was okay. Glad Trevor and Corinthians finally got it together but I feel like I need to actually read the book to enjoy it. The narration is that bad.
