When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too - but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success - his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family - Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This audiobook is intended for mature audiences.

Dreadful

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Having an actual plot, being written in something akin to literate English

You didn???t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

None that I could find in the 5 hours I wasted listening to it before I turned it off

Any additional comments?

Way too long. Poor writing and no discernible plot

weak characters, weak writing.

main charactots Ana is weak, whiny and a brat. if this how the author believes women act and think she is wrong. the sex scenes seem to be written by what seems to be a teenager. I am all for a good spanking and such but these are like listening to someone narrate bad porn.

No my type of book

The narrator was good but the book was not my type. Maybe some other person will enjoy this book. This one was not for me.

The voice in my head read it better

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The person reading the story is annoying. It literally is making me angry. The voice in my head read it better.

Would you be willing to try another one of Becca Battoe’s performances?

NO!.. She needs to find a new career path

boring and not credible

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

a plot, decent writing, believable characters

What was most disappointing about E. L. James’s story?

The characters did not seem human. Seriously? a 22-year old college graduate who is pretty AND a virgin AND doesnt masturbate??? Sounds more like a unicorn to me. This and the repetitive pedantic language (does she know any expletive other than 'holy shit'?) was so unnerving that it spoiled the parts of the book that were actually somewhat entertaining.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Ana left, I was relieved that the book was over. I really didnt care that she had come to her senses because I didnt care about her character because she wasnt real to me.

What character would you cut from Fifty Shades of Grey?

Ana. Which is sad, because she is the main character, but the other characters were somewhat intriguing while Ana I wanted to shoot in the face. Cant say I blame Grey for wanting to hit her, because I did too.

Any additional comments?

Im totally baffled as to why this became a best seller. Completely.

Content

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The voice of the narrator was the most annoying voice ever. Drove me nuts. The content was gross and monotonous. I'll never choose another book just because it is a New York Times best seller again.

What could E. L. James have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Less sex scene details and more story line.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Totally detracted from the book. I couldn't stand her voice. Valley girl voice. Ugh!!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fifty Shades of Grey?

80% of the sex scenes. I normally like that part of books but too much in this book

Any additional comments?

No

OMG can't listen to the narrator anymore!

What disappointed you about Fifty Shades of Grey?

The narrator constantly changes her voice to imitate a man speaking! It is totally juvenile!

Would you ever listen to anything by E. L. James again?

Can't hear the story through the narration!

What didn’t you like about Becca Battoe’s performance?

Really? Changing voices? What am I 5?
