When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too - but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success - his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family - Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This audiobook is intended for mature audiences.

Look for E L James’ passionate new love story, The Mister, coming April 16, 2019.

Story of 50 Shades is a Hot Story--Narrator Okay

What did you love best about Fifty Shades of Grey?

I liked the happy ending. The story was well written and the characters complicated enough to be intriguing. The sex scenes were explicit and well described. I liked that Anastasia figured out the complexities of Christian and stayed to make him see what love is all about.

What other book might you compare Fifty Shades of Grey to and why?

The Story of O because both are about female sexuality and fantasy. Women do think about this and love reading about it.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Becca Battoe?

Yes. She isn't the best at changing her voice for different characters but I expect she will improve.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I have ordered all three volumes.

Needs a new narrator

There was some good points but it wasn't something I couldn't walk away from for days on end. The narrator voice was needing something more, it was generic. I'd rather read the book.

Monotonous emails :-(

Would you try another book from E. L. James and/or Becca Battoe?

This was my first audible and I am hooked! Just don't like the reading of emails especially when they are short....ugh!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Find different reading format for emails. reading just a little faster too.

What about Becca Battoe’s performance did you like?

nice voice, good reader, just too slow

Do you think Fifty Shades of Grey needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

yes! the way it ended made me want more, but knowing there was another was helpful and made me want to move faster to continue the story.

Meh.

The performance was decent. Not stellar, but decent. The narrator's voice did not lend itself to capturing Christian Grey's emotional valance very well. Would have been much better in a dual cast with a male narrator for Grey. The writing was not good. Repetitive. Even with the emotional cliffhanger ending, I can't bring myself to listen to the other books in the series. If you are a fan of great writing and strong character development I advise you to look elsewhere. I am almost obsessive about reading all books in a given series. I just can't bring myself to do that with this series.

What the whoooopppp!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

If there hadn't been so much talk about this book, I would say skip it. But everyone is talking about it and curious.

Would you recommend Fifty Shades of Grey to your friends? Why or why not?

The girl is a simpleton. Saying "oh my" every other line. No man talks like Mr. Grey.
He might do those things but talk and act like he does. No way. It reads like some girls fantasy and not realistic.

How could the performance have been better?

She read the part of Anna fine but her male voice was just sad. Now the male dialog was ridiculus. So she didn't have much to work with.

Was Fifty Shades of Grey worth the listening time?

NO.

Any additional comments?

Its a curiousity but really it is not worth it.

Unconventional Love Story or NO?

What made the experience of listening to Fifty Shades of Grey the most enjoyable?

What drew me to this book was not the sex, but the potential of a love story! I loved listening this book because it made it somehow easier to relate to the main character. At first, I didn't live the reader's voice, but the more I listened the more it became the voice of Ana.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the story between Ana and Christian. They had chemestry and neither could deny it! I really loved the emails between the two!

What does Becca Battoe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Becca Battoe brought forth the voice of Ana. She read it very much the way I envisioned how the characters would sound. I really enjoyed how she got into the story and whispered when it was stated or giggled when it was written. Loved her!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Honestly, I think I laughed, cried and giglled!

Any additional comments?

This is not a book just about sex, although that is what 90 percent of the book is about! You will fall in love with the main characters and will not be dissapointed! I promise!
