When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too - but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success - his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family - Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This audiobook is intended for mature audiences.

Look for E L James’ passionate new love story, The Mister, coming April 16, 2019.

Better than I expected

Who was your favorite character and why?

I go back and forth between Ana and Christian.

What about Becca Battoe’s performance did you like?

I thought she did a good job at bringing out Ana's strong and sassy character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I shed a tear or two as well as a few laughs.

Any additional comments?

I was pleasantly surprised by the book. When I first heard of the movie, I had a lot of negative thoughts about it and didn't want to see the movie or the book. Eventually, I caved and listened to the audio books. I was surprised by: 1) It's actually much more of a love story, 2) Ana is actually a very strong character, and 3) Christian's whole character was a surprise to me. I'm a sucker for love stories, and I found myself sucked into the trilogy the whole way through.

I'm crushed after reading the ending of this book and lost in Ana's pain.....this book has taken me through a lot of emotions. I'm not a reader but find myself longing for more of this story. ....can't wait to start FSOG DARKER!

Use a male to read the voice of the male character

Where does Fifty Shades of Grey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was my first audiobook and not having a male read the male character of Christian Grey in this book made it really silly.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the complexity of Christian Grey

Would you be willing to try another one of Becca Battoe’s performances?

NO not if there are multiple genders in the book, her doing the male voices was just silly

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no

Any additional comments?

Hire male performers

The worst narrator!

Would you try another book from E. L. James and/or Becca Battoe?

This narrator is the worst I've ever listened to. I have tried numerous times to listen beyond her horrible voice to get to the story that everyone is talking about and I've given up. I'd buy the written book, but the narrator has ruined any chance I have of imagination and the storyline! Hate her voice and what she has done to the story!

What didn’t you like about Becca Battoe’s performance?

Horrible sounds and intonations. Sounds like a 12 year old.

Any additional comments?

It is a shame she does all of the trilogy.

"Hot!"

Very hot & erotic story. A bit unrealistic but entertaining nonetheless. Mind of a CEO & mind of one such as Mr. Grey, don't quite fit in the same body. Likewise, Mind of an intelligent beautiful sexually adventurous young woman & mind of a Virgin, again don't fit in the same body of one Anesthesia. Like I've said... It's "entertaining"
