When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too - but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success - his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family - Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This audiobook is intended for mature audiences.

Look for E L James’ passionate new love story, The Mister, coming April 16, 2019.

Great story, not so great narrator

Would you consider the audio edition of Fifty Shades of Grey to be better than the print version?

I would consider the print version to be better. The story itself is phenomenal. Becca Battoe did not do such a great job narrating the book. I envision a much more manlier voice for Christian and I am not too keen on her "valley girl" sound to depict the females in the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fifty Shades of Grey?

Aside from the sex. The relationship between Christian and Anna is in the process to grow into something beautiful.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Becca Battoe?

Possibly, if I find her voice more suited for a different type of character in a different book. I probably would have enjoyed it more if the voice of Christian was performed by a man. I don't think one person should narrate the book for all parts.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were many parts of the book that moved me. Makes you wonder how a guy like him chooses a girl like her. A particular moving experience was when he took her flying early in the morning to see the sunrise. And when he visits her at her mothers because he missed her. It is moving when you see Christian genuinely caring for Anna. Christian can be so forceful, yet loving and caring. Anna is like a lump of clay ready to be molded into whatever Christian would like her to be. In the end you left to wonder why she leaves, a cliff hanger till the next book I guess. But I really think I will purchase the next book and read it myself. Becca kind of ruins what I would imagine what the characters would sound like. Plus, the cost of purchasing a book compared to purchasing an Audible book is significantly less.

Any additional comments?

Overall it was a good first experience. I'm looking into which book I might download next.

fantastic!

I absolutely loved it!! I have seen the movies but the book goes into soo much more details rather than the movie. I couldn't help but picture Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan as I was listening to the book. will get the next one today.

Get to the story already!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. If you're looking for a steamy book, you'll get your fix in the first few chapters. If you're looking for a story line beyond that, forget it!

What was most disappointing about E. L. James’s story?

The main character is a weak, helpless female. She lets Christian dominate her in the bedroom- fine! That's a personal preference. However, she also lets him run her life, boss her around, and keep secrets from her. How annoying!! There is serious possibility for an interesting story, but instead you get sex scene after sex scene after sex scene.

Which character – as performed by Becca Battoe – was your favorite?

The reader did a great job with all characters. It could have been very awkward to read this book and act it out- but it wasn't!

Do you think Fifty Shades of Grey needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

The follow ups are no better.

Any additional comments?

Don't waste a credit.

Wow! Should have listened sooner!

I was so skeptical of this book. I thought why not give it a try and if I don't like it I will stop. It sucked me in and I really enjoyed listening to it. I was worried about reading it since I had been in an abusive relationship similar. It was nothing like that and a very well written book. the narrator did a wonderful job.
