When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too - but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success - his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family - Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This audiobook is intended for mature audiences.

Look for E L James’ passionate new love story, The Mister, coming April 16, 2019.

mixed feelings

What did you like best about Fifty Shades of Grey? What did you like least?

The story and the characters were very well put together.

Would you be willing to try another book from E L James? Why or why not?

No. For example when e-mails were going back and forth between characters it was a bit much to hear the to, from, subject, date and time for EVERY e-mail. I believe there was to much repetition in some parts of the book that was unnecessary.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The voice was very whiny in parts and since there was just a female reader the male parts especially when things got hot and heavy didn't match well.

Any additional comments?

I will read the other two books because I enjoyed the story line but I will not listen to them on tape and I will for sure be skipping over some of the unnecessary/ repetitive writing.

Good but a little frustrating

What did you love best about Fifty Shades of Grey?

I liked the chase... both main characters couldn't seem to stay away from each other.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I guess I liked Ana... her perspective and thoughts are funny.

What does Becca Battoe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I liked the inflection in her voice as she said what the characters said. However, it wasn't always clear whether the character was thinking it or actually saying it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I can't do any one activity for hours on end... I get bored.

Any additional comments?

This point is the author's fault - I couldn't stand how she seemed to use the same phrases over and over and over and over and over again. "My breath hitched..." "...he murmured" - everyone seems to murmur. She does it with different phrases in each of the three books. Now that I've moved on to another series I can't remember them all but every time one came up I wanted to scream. Authors need wide ranges of words!!!!

Becca's voice - Why god WHY?!?!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

this book sounds like it's being read by an insecure teenager trying to sound like an adult. it trivializes the entire story. read it - don't listen to it.

Good

The narrator makes this book a lot better then it actually is. The author tends to repeat a lot of the same things but overall this book is pretty captivating.

Better than Expected!

I have to admit... I wasn't sure this was going to be worth my credit. With so many mixed reviews, I decided to go out on a limb and try it. I really enjoyed the story and the quirky characters. And when it ended, I was left thinking "NO!"... it can't end like that! Luckily there's the second book and I will go on to finish the trilogy. All I can do is hope these two characters figure out a way to be together. Fast read... very steamy!

Interesting!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This was a fun book to listen to, one of the fastest I have finished. But, if I could wish for one thing, I'd wish that the author used a greater variety of adjectives. I felt like she copy/pasted her way through parts of the book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fifty Shades of Grey?

Ohhhh, no... not going to write about the most memorable moment on the internet.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Becca Battoe?

I didn't mind the narrator, she did her best to change voices and add emotion to the words.

Did Fifty Shades of Grey inspire you to do anything?

Made me think about the subject mattter.

Any additional comments?

Definitely adult content, do not read if you are offended by SEXUAL CONTENT.
