When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too - but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success - his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family - Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This audiobook is intended for mature audiences.

Look for E L James’ passionate new love story, The Mister, coming April 16, 2019.

glad I tried it

I remember reading this during the craze and I thought that the writing was not all that good. it seemed like a teenager wrote it with all the oh my god and the 50 shades of red. it just felt kind of childish honestly. but the way that the narrator brings it makes it feel better than when I was reading it in my head. I don't know why I decided to try the book on here but I'm glad I did because now I have another narrator to keep looking for.

Oh my

The narrator made listening to this book play out like a movie. Very nicely done.

What can I say?

You already know what it is. It’s fifty shades. You know the story haha. It’s great. The narrator is fantastic too. She really sounds like an iteration of Ana.

GREAT story....HORRIBLE changes

If you could sum up Fifty Shades of Grey in three words, what would they be?

Great story - BAD production (again)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Christian - after reading this book, I couldn't wait to read the next one to find out more about his past and what makes him tick. The psychology of it all is very alluring.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

In this new version, the slowed down and deepened her voice and its absolutely horrible. I really was looking forward to listening to it again but now that the second version is out - I would rather get my credit back!

I will NOT be purchasing the other two books in this series on audiobook. I downloaded both books through iBooks.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but not now. PRODUCTION IS WORSE that before, in my opinion!

Any additional comments?

This is a well written story and I have really enjoyed the entire series and the development characters. This is not for everybody and if you can make it through the scandalous parts - KEEP reading! The series gets better and better!

However, I know the production recently changed and ITS HORRIBLE!! All they did was slow it down and deepen Becca Battoe's voice! She sounds like a man now!

Downloading the Kindle version

Random House, get a NEW narrator! Hated the first version and the second is not much better. Miss Battoe has a lisp, either natrual or contrived, that I find annoying and a little disconcerting considering the subject manner. Her lisp makes her seem entirely too young for the material she is reading. Even with remastering her voice is not suited to the material.

I have read reviews where many have stated that because of Anna's youth that Miss Battoe's voice projected her innocence. Uhm, no, not so much. She sounds like a teenager trying to pass for a grownup. I have to agree with other reviewers, her "masculine" voice is downright creepy.

Fortunately, I only purchased the first book in the trilogy, I am ditching my audible version and downloading the Kindle books version of the trilogy. I will read the books, I can't take that voice any longer!

Good book - narrative a bit distracting

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Would recommend the book - but would recommend my friend read it rather than listen to by this narrator....

How could the performance have been better?

A more mature sounding voice - girl who read seemed younger than the character she was reading for - voice very high & a bit annoying........

Did Fifty Shades of Grey inspire you to do anything?
