When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too - but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success - his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family - Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This audiobook is intended for mature audiences.

Look for E L James’ passionate new love story, The Mister, coming April 16, 2019.

How many times can these characters "clamber"

I enjoyed listening to this story except for hearing the word "clamber" so many times. Does this author continue using this word for the future books? Kind of grated on my nerves.

Great Story, Beautifully Told

the best part of the story was that it was told by a woman with a soft soothing voice, a voice that really captured Anastasia. The story was extremely well written, and helped me with understanding a world I am dabbling in.

Words fail me...

Would you listen to Fifty Shades of Grey again? Why?

I'm not so sure I would listen again. I didn't think the narrator matched what the story needed. My first impression was jarring surprise. It took a while to get used to the way Christian's voice was depicted. Not a fan, sadly.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the story better in written form. Listening to it on Audible changed my views on it completely. Ana sounds like a complete moron when you hear the story. It's not Becca Battoe's fault, it's the content. Every sentence out of Ana's mouth is a silly question. "What's she doing here?" "Who's that?" "Christian loves me?" "Is that a car?" "Are we driving?" "How did I get in this bed?" "Where am I?" ... And on and on...for a smart girl she sure is dumb! It kind of wrecked it for me and made it a really silly book after listening to it.

Did Becca Battoe do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Some were okay, some were fine, and Christian's voice, wasn't the best.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

No pain, no gain!

Any additional comments?

This story is entertaining and not anything more which is what it was meant to be.

This book was mediocre at best

Is there anything you would change about this book?

A lot... mainly the lack of literary tools and poor quality of writing... this book was difficult for get through, even on audio.

Has Fifty Shades of Grey turned you off from other books in this genre?

no, the faults I found with this book were mainly due to the author's abilities. Not everyone can be a good author, let alone a great one.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The story was slow and the narration was slow, so I suppose they matched.

Could you see Fifty Shades of Grey being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No, please no... Perhaps if it developed a plot along the way then perhaps.

Any additional comments?

save your money, if you really want to read it, go to a second hand shop and pick it up for a few bucks. Its simply written and won't take long at all.

Fifty shades of cringe.

I couldn’t stop cringing during this audiobook.
The narrator made it even more cringey.
The writing is not very good.
But weather you like it or not E. L. James made millions off of it.
Overall i would recommend if you enjoy cringing.

Oh, my.

Would you try another book from E. L. James and/or Becca Battoe?

Maybe from Becca Battoe.

Would you ever listen to anything by E. L. James again?

Probably not.

Was Fifty Shades of Grey worth the listening time?

I have just about gotten through the whole thing, which is more than I can say about the last several audio books I downloaded.

This is the first audiobook where I really liked (or at least didn't mind) the PERFORMANCE but the plot was GODAWFUL.

But it's bad. And it's not even 'sinfully bad.' It's just bad. This is not a sex-positive book. It's totally unbelievable. Someone get this author a thesaurus.

My inner goddess hated me for every minute I listened to this book, but my subconscious said, "don't you dare waste another audiobook!"
