Love it but...

50 Shades of Lukewarm Blah
What did you like best about Fifty Shades of Grey? What did you like least?
The concept was intriguing. Yet, the idea of a mature and experienced man manipulating a young and naive college student slightly disturbed me. Having daughters in that age group, it was hard to have the same overly sexual experience that the soccer moms who giggled behind their book, camouflaged by a book cover at the pool the Summer of 2012. If the story didn't drag on and on enough to drive you mad, the audio will. The narrator sounds like she is a high school girl which just adds to the ick factor. I would not read the sequel. I will see the movie...on DVD. The actor cast as Christian Grey is pretty cute.

Good, emotional, but...
There are many...improbable aspects of this book. The most FRUSTRATING is Anna not knowing how to email and believing she won't need a computer...in 2011. Seriously? I know she's supposed to be "innocent" but not dense. Other than that, it's fine.

I don’t know what expected but it surpassed every expectations.
The movies made me question all the noise over the story. I honestly wanted to read this because I couldn’t believe the movies got it right. A seemingly weak willed woman and a terrorizing man. The book does a MUCH better story of the complex relationship. Showing her inner struggles as well as his tormented soul. Even her friendship with Kate was far more in depth. How Kate pick up on warning signs. All in all I was so very drawn in to the book. Well written with Christian being far more like able. Glad I gave book a try and can not wait for the next two.

The reader killed this for me.
I love this story and have read it on my own twice. Unfortunately the reader killed it for me and I couldn’t even finish it. She made Ana sound stuck up and vain with her tones and inflection choices.
