Look for E L James’s passionate new love story, The Mister, available now.

When unworldly student Anastasia Steele first encountered the driven and dazzling young entrepreneur Christian Grey it sparked a sensual affair that changed both of their lives irrevocably. Shocked, intrigued, and, ultimately, repelled by Christian’s singular erotic tastes, Ana demands a deeper commitment. Determined to keep her, Christian agrees. Now, Ana and Christian have it all—love, passion, intimacy, wealth, and a world of possibilities for their future. But Ana knows that loving her Fifty Shades will not be easy, and that being together will pose challenges that neither of them would anticipate.

Ana must somehow learn to share Christian’s opulent lifestyle without sacrificing her own identity. And Christian must overcome his compulsion to control as he wrestles with the demons of a tormented past. Just when it seems that their strength together will eclipse any obstacle, misfortune, malice, and fate conspire to make Ana’s deepest fears turn to reality.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

Thank You for narration change

I am shocked to see customers begging for the initial version of Becca's performance. Without question, the first book (which I listened to with the original style) was a disaster. I'm sorry if the performance isn't the best. But since it's been remastered, it definitely sounds a lot better than the childlike voice that really creeped peolple out. Thus, most listeners launched a campaign.

Book 2 is better narrated with the change. Ana sounds like the young woman she's supposed to be. Same here with this final book.

I'm not a big fan of the series. I was so excited to get my chance to have this on audio, but I was bitterly disappointed with the series. It is poorly written, and told from a very immature P.O.V. Very much like simple YA books, with mature content.

Book one is the most intense and and page turning book, though I wasn't comfortable with the reading level: could have been written by a 14 year old. I never liked Christain as much as others, *spoiler from book 2*, and never forgave him for the bath and for caring for a naked Layla in book 2. Seriously, angers me still that Ana didn't do anything about his behavior.

My final qualm is that once the couple went Vanilla(start of book 2), there wasn't anything left to the story. The last two books are yawn-worthy, proving to me that EL James has far less talent than she's given credit for. The bdsm-theme and an unfathomable contract were novelties that gave a sense of friction to the first book. Once Christain goes vanilla, I realized that there is no real story, just boring sex.

50 Shades of F up!!

Spoilers......!!!!!
This one was good too I finally finished the book (listing to it on Audible). Bella expression of Teddy was so adorable lol, and I'm glad they finally got rid of Jack he was getting on my nerves I actually thought he might come out to be Christian Brother, but he wasn't. The hate and jealousy she definitely real when it comes to Jack and Christan and his family.

And I was so used to Anna calling her son Blimp lol, smh I'm like why she didn't name him that. LOL, but instead name him Theodore Raymond Grey aka Teddy instead SO acute (yes a-cute) lol. (baby is so acute) not the name lol.

"I want to see the little 'Blimp' awe lmao.

it I ever hear the word "murmur"

What would have made Fifty Shades Freed better?

these characters are such name dropping stuck up rich snobs even though the author tries to make them less shallow. It is just so DUMB. The narrator ends every sentence with the new valley girl intonation that has taken over “like” the growly voice

How did the narrator detract from the book?

she made the people sound so unbelievably stupid and boring

What character would you cut from Fifty Shades Freed?

all of them

Would you listen to Fifty Shades Freed again? Why?

Yes, because I liked it

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fifty Shades Freed?

Reading the first chapter from Christian's perspective

Which scene was your favorite?

Christian's view point (at the very end of the book)

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When he realized that what happened between him and Mrs Robinson was wrong

Any additional comments?

Great series, I wouldn't mind reading it again but doing it from his perspective

Mrs. Grey...

This series was soo good. The ups and downs truly kept you guessing. I loved seeing the way Christian and Ana's relationship grew and transformed through the story. It was hot, but it was also emotional and suspenseful. Really a great story

Not as good as the others

What disappointed you about Fifty Shades Freed?

This book was very tame compared to the first two. After reading the first two, which were very intense, this one is a major let down and is just outright boring.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Bared to You

What didn’t you like about Becca Battoe’s performance?

I hated her "guy" voice for Mr. Gray.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment

Any additional comments?

I really liked the first book while Darker was also pretty good but this was the worse by far. Not worth listening to unless you are like me and just have to finish a series before you could listen to anything else.

Terrible writing, repetitive and juvenile.

Was hoping for a fun summer read but this was not it!
The three books were poorly written and though I kept hoping for some semblance of an adequate story line to emerge the plot was weak, the characters repetitive and shallow, the writing juvenile and the repetition hard to take. Even the gratuitous scenes (which is what I'm assuming made these books popular) were repetitive and I was fast forwarding through them by book three!

Can I have the option of a Negative Star rating?

What disappointed you about Fifty Shades Freed?

In a word, ALL. I listened to the whole trilogy only to be completely disappointed in the books as well as society for liking them.

The only thing worse than the plot line was the way it was written. I don’t know how many times I heard "Oh my", “and in that moment” and "subconscious" but it was incredibly annoying. (How would someone even know, as well as Ana seems to know, what is going on in their subconscious? Wouldn’t it be more accurately defined as your “conscious” since Ana is actively aware of the thoughts coming from it?)

James did not once try to change the words used to explain the story. If it had been me I would have pulled out a thesaurus I’ve owned since elementary school to help break it up.
The repetition was beyond annoying.

Then from their the character compositions were dreadful with Christian’s ridiculous predispositions and then sudden changes of heart and then enduring the self-revelations and pitiful self-doubt of Ana that were on every page. I mean really, are we watching a baby take its first steps or picturing and adult woman consenting to intercourse?!?! The maturity level of Ana is just sad and I would have thought that given the nature of the content in this book James would have done a better job of creating characters capable of consenting and enjoying themselves.

Then there is the underlining idea that you can change someone or that you can just decide not to be something so extreme that you have been for so long (applicable to various aspects/dispositions in life.) Wrong, and women everywhere should be advised; its not love if you have to change the person.

I kept hearing people raving about how liberating these books were and how after reading it women felt empowered….was this a section of the book that was left out of my unabridged audio book? I was anything but liberated and empowered because of these books. I found myself bored the more I listened and then annoyed that I was bored and not finding a better use of my hearing ability.

Would you ever listen to anything by E. L. James again?

NO. I doubt James's writing skill will improve at this point, and these books burned my so bad, I wont give her books a second look.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Becca Battoe?

Hard to say, since the story sucked to begin with. Even the best of narrators would crash and burn with this story.

What character would you cut from Fifty Shades Freed?

Ana. Ridiculous, annoying, immature kid....I could deal with Christian's character flaws if Ana were gone...

Any additional comments?

Don't waste your time if you are wanting a "steamy" story.

Don't bother

What disappointed you about Fifty Shades Freed?

All the murmuring, smirking, muttering. Detailed descriptions of what characters were wearing, and every description followed an utterance by the vapid Ana about how "hot" Christian is. Ridiculous story line. Terrible writing. Even the sex became routine and boring and I had to fast forward through those parts to get to the funny part (that were not meant to be funny). Oh, and how does Ana, the 22 year old editor of a publishing house (right) get anything done when all she does at work is send idiotic emails to her "hot" boyfriend? Barf!!!!

What could E. L. James have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not write it.

What character would you cut from Fifty Shades Freed?

Ana and Christian.
