As usual, another fantastic listen by SEP!! I would recommend all her books, I have yet to find one that I haven't given 5 stars too! I'm addicted, can't stop downloading all her books!!!
I really loved Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars series, so I wanted to start the Wynette, Texas series from the beginning. This book was so slow getting to the story that I gave up and stopped listening. Audible graciously refunded my money.
This was a complete waste of a credit. If I had to hear the name "Dally" one more time I might have trashed my ipod. Don't waste your time.
But otherwise was a pleasant read. I read 'heroes are my weakness' first which I liked better, however I'm going to read another of her books because I like a grounded romance.
Even though Francesca is not your typical romantic heroine, I really grew to care about her as the story progressed. Great character development. I looked forward to my commute so that I could listen to what would happen next in the story.
Don't think anyone would really enjoy this book.
Make the main character more likeable.
Not really. Accents were bad and hard to listen to.
If you are obsessed w/ the history of the characters.
It is difficult to believe that the author of
Anna Field's narration is the perfect example of how an awesome narrator can only marginally help an awful book. Ocassionally a great narrator can really save a so-so book. But even Ms. Field couldn't pull this loser out of the mire.
Characters weren't the problem. It was the depressing aspect of the story that did it - no one is that dumb. Maybe SEP was having real life problems and delt them by venting in the book. Good therapy just not a good read.
I drive two hours every day to work so I listen to a lot of books. Every other SEP book I've read thus far has been an upbeat, entertaining experience -
I have a very open mind when it comes to books and for the most part will at least be able to get through an entire book even if it is bad. This book however, is the worst book that I have ever attempted to partake in. It is so slow that I found myself begging for something to happen but was only able to get through 4 hours before I had to give up. Do not waste any credits or money on this book!
I love SEP but this book was so hard to get through. Ths first 1-2 hours were the hardest but it picked up near the end. I believe the reason it took so long to get the actual story started its there were several subplots and other relationships to develop. Overall I wouldn't listen to it again.
