Publisher's summary

I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way. Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.

Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

Nell Hawthorne is in love with her life-long best friend, Kyle Calloway. Their young love is invincible and life is full of promise; then one night Kyle dies suddenly in a tragic accident and Nell is forever changed. She meets Kyle's older brother, Colton, for the first time at the funeral. They both struggle to move on with life as best they can. Years later, they meet again in New York City, and Colton realizes that Nell has never really gotten over Kyle's death. She seems to be harboring a deeply rooted pain, a heavy weight of guilt, and regret. He knows he shouldn't get involved, but he can't help himself. Trust doesn't come easily for either of them, and they both have demons. Together, they learn the purpose of pain and the meaning of healing, and the importance of forgiveness.

Pretty Good

This is a very HOT romance story. The story about Nell and Colton itself is pretty good, but the way this author, Jasinda Wilder writes a sex scene is unbelievable. WOW! Very well done. I'm almost finished with the next book in the series, Falling Into Us. You don't need to read the first one to enjoy the second one at all. Falling Into Us is much better too. The story between Becca and Justin is more about their lives and relationship with family than just the Hot sex scenes.

Twas an unbelievable story

Ok so I'm like wow... Sitting at my desk blinking back tears. Listened to this via Audible- it's the song Falling into you at the End that has taken me over the edge. I'm like wow and losing the battle with the tears.

Omg OMG omg this was so gut wrenching and real I'm just like floating in a sea of emotions.

Well developed story line and characters with flaws but real in every way.

None of us is all one thing- good, bad, liberal, conservative, negative, positive and the like and though we attempt to make snap judgments and pigeonhole each other, Mrs. Wilder serves us real people that are complex just like us.

WOW!

This is the most heart touching story that I have ever listened to. I listened to it all at one setting. A lot of emotion and pain.

DNF - not enough tension

I compulsively finish books but this was a DNF for me - I made it about the 3/4 mark. It may likely just be a style thing but I felt all the tension went out of the story. The story was technically well written, though. This was an Audible listen, the narrators were ok, didn't distract from the story.

Don't bother unless you aren't very mature

I stopped after three chapters. It could get better later on but decided at the moment not to waste my time. Since I'm in my car about two hours a day, driving to and fro, to work, I like Audible books. I listened for two hours and found myself disliking the conversations taking place between two 16 year olds. I'm certainly not a prude and I like grown up sex, but not ridiculous conversation. Removing from my Audible app on my iPhone.

Graphic sex scenes take away potential

What disappointed you about Falling into You?

Honestly, I can take quite a bit of adult language/content. I felt there was so much focus on describing bodily fluids and swollen private parts that it really took the focus away for a story that had so much potential. All the other parts of the story were under developed. If I felt a whisp of a tearful connection to the characters' experiences it was short lived as the description of it was short lived.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Usually I listen and if I love something so much I'll get the book too and read it so I can relive it in more detail. Sometimes listening makes going back a few pages a little difficult. I'm currently listing to a memoir. A funny one. (With F worlds too!)

How could the performance have been better?

I think a little more natural readings would've helped the listen but definitely wouldn't help the story.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Falling into You?

I hate to cut anything from a book. The writer puts it there for a reason. I wouldn't want to miss any of it even if I end up not liking it.

Any additional comments?

I didn't hate this book. I just wish I had a little more warning about the nature of the context. If I wanted graphic sex scenes, I feel like I would've chosen an adult book and not a young adult or new adult book. I chose YA and NA for the coming of age experiences and this was borderline S&M reading material. It makes it awkward.

oh god oh god ohmigod!

What disappointed you about Falling into You?

First off Nell repeats everything like oh god oh god ohmigod! 3 times! If I never hear this phrase again it would be too soon. The writing was just down write aggravating.

What was most disappointing about Jasinda Wilder’s story?

I know this story was suppose to be tragic and heart wrenching but what happen to love prevailing and saving the people!?!? It never happens just more depressing things.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration did a great job for what they had to work with.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

NO! The first coupld of chapters were good, then its nothing but depressing crap and if not that then they are banging the crap out of each other. Nothing ever gets solved. AND happy ending no nothing! They are even more messed up at the end of the book then the beginning!

Any additional comments?

This is not my normal type of book but some of the reviews on Amazon made it sound good, tbut really only if you want to walk away depressed would I tell you to read/listen to this book.

Really Wanted to Like This One But No Go

What would have made Falling into You better?

I agree with another reviewer that this book seems like either the author's first book or a YA book gone awry. I'm a sucker for a good love story but this one just seemed too forced to me. That *may* have been surmountable if the writing was better but clunky writing along with a forced story was too much for me. I bowed out after 9 chapters and I am one to stick with a book as much as possible.

What was most disappointing about Jasinda Wilder’s story?

I'm probably in the minority but I prefer challenged relationships that turn into love (a la "Pride and Prejudice") as opposed to love at first site stories (a la "Romeo and Juliet"). And the fact that this one started with a relationship in the former category but then switched to the latter with Colton just rubbed me the wrong way.
