Publisher's summary

I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way. Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.

Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

Nell Hawthorne is in love with her life-long best friend, Kyle Calloway. Their young love is invincible and life is full of promise; then one night Kyle dies suddenly in a tragic accident and Nell is forever changed. She meets Kyle's older brother, Colton, for the first time at the funeral. They both struggle to move on with life as best they can. Years later, they meet again in New York City, and Colton realizes that Nell has never really gotten over Kyle's death. She seems to be harboring a deeply rooted pain, a heavy weight of guilt, and regret. He knows he shouldn't get involved, but he can't help himself. Trust doesn't come easily for either of them, and they both have demons. Together, they learn the purpose of pain and the meaning of healing, and the importance of forgiveness.

Painful, with some bright spots

3.5 stars.
I enjoyed this one, but I didn't. It's hard to explain. It was dark and even when the HEA comes about, I still didn't feel peace and satisfaction. I guess I don't feel like the H/h are really happy but are just coping. Kind of co-dependents of pain and hiding pain.

The book starts with a scene with Nell and her boyfriend Colton Calloway. then a blast to past takes us to young Nell, and her best friend Kyle Calloway (Colton's younger brother)...and I thought "Uh oh".
So the love story started in high school. It was very emotional, sweet and sad. But like I said, I don't feel satisfied or at peace with where they are emotionally.

The narration was good and the song at the end was sweet.

Tragic and Heartfelt

What made the experience of listening to Falling into You the most enjoyable?

You can feel the pain of the characters in this book. Nell is a girl that's headed for accomplishing great things in life but when tragedy strikes her path is changed forever. You get to see this perfect girl with her perfect life turned upside. The struggles she goes through is not pretty or glamourized, it seems so real. Their is no way the author or someone close to her didn't live through something very similar to this.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Falling into You?

Although this is not really part of the book at the very end someone sings the song Falling Into You and it was so beautiful.

Which scene was your favorite?

Playing the guitar in the hospital. I won't add anything else, don't want to spoil anything.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The hospital scene with the guitar.

Any additional comments?

Unlike the other reviews I didn't cry but it will break your heart for sure.

You will cry

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this to a friend. It was an amazing story that took you to places emotionally that are hard to explain. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe, you'll feel your heart break. This isn't your typical love story. This story couldn't be further from that. It's a story of true pain and suffering from a girl who most stories would picture as having the perfect life and in the end it all works out for the best, la de da. But not in this story. She has anything but the perfect life. She goes through some serious things but it's all so well written and so beautiful.

The author is amazing. A true wordsmith. The whole book is just brilliant.

What did you like best about this story?

This isn't your typical sappy romance novel where everyone comes out smelling like roses in the end. This isn't the same story you've heard 1000 times retold in a new way. This is a very different kind of story that isn't just about love or falling in love. It's a really emotional journey for the characters in the book and the reader.

Which scene was your favorite?

This isn't the kind of book where you have a favorite part. The whole thing combined is an experience and you must go through the entire journey to truly enjoy the ride.

DEEPLY MOVING, EMOTIONAL & INTENSELY ROMANTIC TOO

This is a heartbreaking and emotionally painful listen but it's also full of overcoming life's bitter challenges as young Nell is brought to the brink of despair and self-loathing after the death of Kyle but through time, understanding, patience, hope and the support of the right man, she found out that her destiny was to love for a second time.

It's raw, intense, passionate, deeply emotional, tragic and will simply rip your heart out and you'll grieve alongside Nell for all the lost dreams but then slowly you'll rejoice when she finally sees the glimpse of a future that's worth living for.... and his name is Colton. There's great chemistry, passion and their journey together to find happiness, contentment and love is very romantic.

Worth a credit? What a well-thought out, well written, nicely paced and truly emotional life story that's packed full of heart wrenching scenes, dark scenes, beautiful scenes and spectacular fireworks in the sky scenes. So creditworthy..... HELL YEAH and the characters and events will stay with you long after the listen has ended.

WOW! Just WOW!

Any additional comments?

The narration was great and the characters were so beautifully written you could feel their pain. I can't believe how much this story made me cry. My heart broke for Nell. You know the tragedy is coming so you just keep waiting for it, when it does happen you can't believe it. This book will put you through the wringer emotionally. Nell's pain and journey during/after Kyle dies is gut wrenching. I loved this book but I don't think I could listen to it again, it's so emotionally draining. I literally had tears streaming down my face. One tissue isn't enough. Make sure you have enough time to listen for a while, you won't want to stop. I think there needs to be a second book to finish up the loose ends.

Vivid descriptions, engaging story.

I found this audible recording through Bookbub. With no expectations, I listened. Jasinda Wilder paints a vivid portrait of two tormented souls. I found that Colton' character was fully fleshed out. The scenes were so vividly written I almost felt like I was actually watching a movie in my mind's eye. Nell's character was not as engaging as the author wanted to show how she had shut down, and was numbly going through the motions of living. Therefore switching to Colton's perspective really made this book thrum. Wilder is a master at painting word pictures.

A super good book

This was my first by this author but definitely not my last. It had every aspect you’d want in a book. I was concerned with a character dying, but it was handled very well. My only complaint was that it ended too soon. It was a very erotic romance, with some great song lyrics. The song at the end was wonderful.
