Maggie is unaware of the terrifying fate that awaits her. It isn't until she lands in New Orleans for a full year at a private high school and her unknown enemies find her does she realize that her life is in danger. One of my fav series! 💚💙

I first read these years ago and completely fell in love with them. The characters, storyline, the uniqueness of it all. It had me enthralled until the very last word!

I am, now, listening to them on Audible and it is like experiencing it all for the first time again. Amazing.

Laury Falter became one of my favorite authors after first reading these which lead me to read more of her series'. I recommend Haven.

Content vs narration

I love the story but the narrator is terrible. She pauses and draws out the sentences strange places which ruins the flow of the story.

STILL WAITING

Absolutely loved this book when I read it and thought the audio version did a really good job bringing it to life. My only question is WHY AM I STILL WAITING FOR THE SEQUEL??? I check every month to see if the sequel has been done only to be disappointed over and over again. Please Martha Lee, bring us the next one!!

Don't Believe the Hype

I didn't love the book. If it weren't for the narrator, i don't think I would have finished. The concept of the book is good. The whole messenger, fallen angel, and carrier of souls were a awesome twist, but the characters themselves seem over used, typical, and annoying.
I love a strong female protagonist. Maggie wasn't strong enough for me. Yes, Maggie is resourceful, strong-willed, and mostly wise for her age, but on the other hand, she is very annoying, slow to put two and two together, and naive. Maybe it was the actually text of the book. i felt like i was reading fifth grade literature. This book was very boring and predictable. because the concept seem so rich i was sure i could expect much more depth, especially in the conversations between characters.

Unfortunately, my intrigue ends with book one. i don't think i can stomach 2 and 3.

At best, this book is very mediocre.

Well written, good story line.

I didn't know what to expect, never reading anything from this author, but was kept interested and enjoyed the story. Maggie is believable and a strong female. Can't wait to read next book in series. Narrator was very entertaining.
