Jennifer L. Armentrout, New York Times best-selling author of the Wait for You series, delivers a new novel of first love, second chances, and scorching chemistry between an artistic bartender and the tough, sexy cop who's determined to win her.
Roxy's loved Reece Anders since she was 15, so when the straitlaced cop finally surrendered to a steamy encounter years later, Roxy hoped he'd fall for her, too. He didn't. Or that's what she's always believed. But then Reece storms back into her life when the man who injured her childhood friend is out of prison and wanting to make amends - something Roxy cannot do.
The last thing she wants is to go there with Reece again, but he's determined to prove to her that he's exactly what she needs. Especially when a sick creep starts messing with her. But what's more dangerous to Roxy - a psycho after her or the past that refuses to let go and allow her to open up her heart again?

I have enjoyed this series immensely and am very hopeful that this is not the end of it. The story of Roxy and Reese is quite lovely, sensual and exciting. The writing is superb...weaving together intrigue, suspense, romance and humor with exquisite sensitivity. The story is well developed, the characters are ones we've met before...so it's like meeting old friends. Some of the characters most definitely stay with you and become hopeful focus of future novels--although, I'm not sure Katy deserves a whole book because she is just such a hilarious character. On the other hand, it might be nice to see her with her depth explored. Nevertheless, this book is about two scarred (and scared) people who fight their way to and from each other until they finally connect. Once connected, there is no separation. Listen to it and enjoy Sophie Eastlake's superb narration...as always, she nails every character and situation.
I chose the 5 star rating because #1 the story kept my attention and couldn't figure out the "bad guy" #2 the live story was believable and not too far out there #3 the narrator was smooth and had a very nice voice throughout the entire 10 hour story.
I look forward to listening to more stories by this author in my future.
Jennifer Armentrout is just pure magic. Her characters come alive and I almost feel like I am part of this group of friends in this series. This is Roxy's story, the bartender from the previous book. I love that each of the characters have their own complicated back story and that each character appears in each book so we get to see a little peek into what they are doing now after their books. I am getting carried away here, but if you listen to this series you will completely understand! Well worth a credit and maybe two!
Read/Listen, Review and Recommend!
This is only the second book I have ever pre ordered and I am so glad I did. I love this series, I mean come on Cam just did it for me and I wanted more so I got sucked in to book 2 and 3 just for him and of course you end up just falling just as hard for the Jase and Jax. So it was no surprise to me that Reece is just as dreamy as the other boys. I have to say this subject matter gives me the willies but it's an eye opener too and so glad it turned out the way it did. This is me not giving away anything. 😉
P.S. So glad we got to have a few clips of the gang I do miss Ollie and Brit though.
Jennifer L. Armentrout is my kind of funny. If you like her sense of humor, you will like all her books. She writes it all, from YA, fantasy, to romance. She has become my favorite author of all times because her books aren't heavy and always have a happily ever after....
I have read multiple books by this author and I continue to do so because of the strength of the female characters. This book was no different there were many ways the book strayed from the typical romantic plot including the fact that the best friend is in assisted living. There continues to be many WTF moments until the last chapter. It's worth sticking around to see what happens.
I would recommend the hot sex scenes as well!
Another great title in this series....but hats off to Sophie Eastlake. She doesn't just read, she gives a performance.
Finally a good story, with a good reader. Will check out authors other book. If your picky like me, you should like this one
