"Crusie has a gift for concocting nutty scenarios and witty one-liners." (People)
"Cruise's fifth novel is an entertaining, fast-paced romp with a pleasing love story at its heart." (Booklist)
"Aasne Vigesaa....spices up the story with a brashness that works for this novel filled with odd characters and amusing plots." (AudioFile)
I own a small shop selling custom/costume Jewelry. I love to listen to audio books while I create jewelry. I love all animals and get very upset when they aren't treated well, even in fiction.
I've liked other books by Jennifer Crusie. I don't know if I would try another one because I really did not like this one. When it becomes a chore listen instead of a pleasure. Too many names too much too much confusion it wasn't fun.
The lack of a storyline.
The narrator did fine but they can't read a storyline into a book if it isn't there
Sure of,course the dog.I was glad that she rescued him that was a good beginning to the story. So yes Spot a.k.a. Steve was a bright spot.
When I clean, drive or exercise I listen to romance. The steamier the better but it must have a great story as well!
I usually love Jennifer Cruise's work. However, this was just bad. Not only was it boring with a terribly repetitive storyline but the narrator killed what chance it may have had. I was so bored that I couldn't even finish listening to it. Instead I found one of my old favorites by Molly Harper. I know that Jennifer Cruise has lots of potential her story "Bet Me" was one of my favorites. Better luck next time Jennifer.
An audible addict:)
Very good dramatisation
Scarlet - she was misterious, honest, funny and woman..
I always liked Jennifer Cruise's stories but listening to this one narrated by Aasne Vegesaa was exceptionally funny. I laughed out loud so often. Even the sex scenes were hysterical. It was such lighthearted fun!
Her delivery was so perfect
I could barely put this down. I loved it.
It was well written. The plot was clever. It was not silly like some books of this genre. It is not a heavy literary experience, but that is not what I wanted. It lightened my mood. Good escapist listening.
She adds an additional dimension to the reading experience. I appreciate her talent.
Mom of three
I enjoyed Faking It although it was not my favorite Crusie book. The narration did not take away from the story. The characters are definitely different. If you are looking for a light, easy summer listen this will foot the bill.
This is one of my all time favorite Jenny books. I listen to it over and over again. It never gets old
Although I enjoyed Anyone But You and Bet Me, this book was very disappointing. If this had been the first book I listened to, I would have never listened to another one... Not worth your money or your credit!
