Publisher's summary

Reformed art forger Tilda Goodnight reluctantly joins forces with semi-reformed con man Davy Dempsey. They want to steal a dubious painting and several million embezzled dollars from a lethal widow named Clea, who has targeted a mild-mannered art collector as her next dearly departed. Complications include her sister, the female impersonator; his best friend, the reformed cat burglar; a recidivist embezzler named Rabbit; a hit man; some lousy sex; and a juke box. Trouble ensues....

A favorite book almost ruined by audio

I love the book but the audio version almost ruined it for me. One of Jennifer Crusie’s best. It feels a little sexist in the post Me Too era, but most things do. The verbal interplay between the characters is the highlight of the book, heavily influenced by many beloved comic films.

Average

Not as good as "Fast Women" and because i enjoyed that so much I expected more from this one. It had its good moments and did show the authors usual humour.

Love the Dempsey's

Would you listen to Faking It again? Why?

Oh yeah

Which character – as performed by Aasne Vigesaa – was your favorite?

Loved them all, but all in all, Davey was my favorite

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Laughed so hard over the Clea's closet.

Any additional comments?

Welcome to Temptation was also AWESOME. Crusie is great

Fun listen

A nice tale of some really quirky characters. Jennifer tells a good tale and keeps the story going throughout. The little twist at the end was nice.

everybody is faking something

Any additional comments?

A fun fluffy read

I enjoyed listening to this book, I thought the casual sex was a little much but it seemed to work in this story. I was completely surprised by the ending. Fun to listen to and I would recommend it.

All Time Favorite

Reminiscent of the screwball comedies of the 30's & 40's Crusie delivers a novel filled with fast paced dialog & plot twists galore. The narrator does an excellent job of bringing a large cast of quirky characters to life. I find myself alternately smiling & laughing out loud throughout a novel I enjoyed so much that I will revisit it again & again.

Great Book Made Even Better by Listening

Turns out I enjoy Jennifer Crusie books more on audio AFTER I’ve read them (like reading a book before seeing a movie). Fabulous. Zany. Definitely one of my favorite Crusies. Narrator did a wonderful job differentiating voices in the rather large cast, as well as making them identifiable and suiting the characters. This one’s a winner. Totally rec this for chick lit and romance readers both. I like a lot of plot with my romance and this book had it in spades (romances too!). Big fun.
