Publisher's Summary

Mia Devlin knows what it is like to love with your whole heart - and then watch your love walk away. Years ago, she and Sam Logan shared an incredible bond built on passion, legend, and fate. But then one day he fled Three Sisters Island, leaving her lost in memories of the magic they shared - and determined to live without love.

The new owner of the island's only hotel, Sam, has returned to Three Sisters with hopes of winning back Mia's affections. He is puzzled when she greets him with icy indifference - for the chemistry between them is still sizzling and true.

Angry, hurt, and deeply confused, Mia refuses to admit that a passion for Sam still burns in her heart. But she'll need his help - and his powers - to face her greatest, most terrifying challenge. And as the deadline for breaking a centuries-old curse draws near, they must take the first steps toward destiny - and come together to turn back the dark.

What the Critics Say

"Well written and well crafted....Sandra Burr creates subtly different voices and accents for the different characters. Her pacing is excellent, and she conveys just the right amount of expression and emotion to make listening a light and thoroughly enjoyable experience." (AudioFile)

"Great Story but Some Character Flaws"

I loved this series. But the character Ripley on occasion throughout the series is a bit childish for a 30 year old woman. Other than that the story is perfect.

This story is the perfect ending to the series where you see Mia come full circle and it slowly builds. I think the fight peak or crescendo could have been longer and more complicated however.

    Voice over is perfect.

    "The ultimate ending!"

Mia makes one want to go work at Cafe Book just so that you can learn from her and take in her learnings.

The 3 together are a force to recon with - if only love and romance were this easy!

Nora Roberts makes you want to read only trilogies so that you can get into the lives of the charaters.

if only this were real! i'd move in a flash!

    Wonderfully writted, wonderfully read!

Thank you fro your insight and research and thank you for making them audible!

    "Abusive Man Wins?"

In book 1, and a major premise of book 2, we are faced with Evil in the form of an abusive husband. One who forced his wife to fake her own death rather than continue a potentially deadly relationship.

In book 3, we are asked to put aside an equally abusive man, one who may or may not have had good reasons to destroy the woman who loved him [Don't all abusive men have excuses for the things they do to their loved ones?] and have pity on the individual, who, after all, was only doing what he had to do. The fact that he destroyed the life of one woman is a shame, but, "The ending always justifies the means, doesn't it?"

I say - garbage stinks, no mater how much perfume you apply to it. Love is not always the answer and rejection of abuse, in all forms, must stand. This is the flaw in the series and in book 3. Nora Roberts, of all people, should have seen it coming.

I have to give the story One Star. No matter she resolved the storyline in the end, the people involved, should NEVER have made the choices they did in book 3 if the lessons learned in book 1 and 2 were even slightly real to the author.

    "Read this - don't listen!"
How did the narrator detract from the book?

I love the Three Sisters Trilogy and usually re-read it once a year. I was short on time, and had credits, so I downloaded Face the Fire. What a mistake! The narrator's voice was fine during the narration. However, her interpretation of the sisters - Nell, Ripley and Mia - ruined it for me. She chose to use higher pitched voices and the sisters sounded like little girls. The sisters were three strong women and the voices used by the narrator diminished them, in my opinion.

It was so disappointing, I had to quit listening.

I won't download the other two, because I don't think I could stand it.

    "Solid story, bad narration"
Would you try another book from Nora Roberts and/or Sandra Burr?

I would buy another book from Nora Roberts if it were narrated by someone else

What could Nora Roberts have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Use a different narrator

Would you be willing to try another one of Sandra Burr’s performances?

No. I did not enjoy her voice for this book or either of the other two in this series. She made the female characters (especially Nell) sound almost childlike. These are stories about three extremely powerful women but the narration does not make them sound that way.

    "My favorite in this series."

I love this series, I have read in paperback and have listened to these audiobooks at least a half dozen times since they were written. They are very sweet and exciting and suspenseful and never fail to make me feel good. I enjoy this narrator and have purposefully bought other books that have been read by her. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I have.

    "Excellant conclusion to the Trilogy"

This was excellent conclusion to the Sisters Three. For the first part of the story you start to feel like the other characters in the story frustrated, with Mia’s independence but understanding that she must do things her way. And of course you are a pissed at Sam thinking he can just walk in and sweep her away. But as the story precedes you begin to understand their past and why he did what he did. Not that it was right but in his youth those thoughts actually make since. So you find yourself waiting for Mia to trust again. Good versus evil. Witches united together in strength and love. This of course is a G rated romance but very good romance in typical Nora Roberts fashion. If you like Nora’s romances then yes this is a good pick. If you don’t then don’t buy.
