Decent time-travel story but could be improved

Story/Characters: I love a good ol’ medieval Scottish highland time travel story and this one was okay. This book could’ve gone through a couple of more drafts to create a more solid story but overall there is a plot and conflict. Here are some parts I though the story could’ve been better: 1) The villain is way too obvious so maybe some red herrings would’ve been nice to make things more mysterious. (I get that this is a subplot; however, because the character development was lacking, I thought this aspect could’ve been strengthened). 2) Like the other reviews, this is a major insta-love and attraction situation. Ian and Katherine are complete strangers but already want to bone like bunnies in the first 10 minutes of starting the book. I don’t mind all that IF their chemistry was substantiated throughout the story. After their first bang, Katherine and Ian are separated by time and only “dream” of each other in vague glimpses. I thought this would’ve been a good chance for them to learn about each other a little. Like Ian dreams about Katherine’s childhood vice versa. The two don’t have a deep conversation to get to know each other let alone banter through the rest of the book. 3) Changes were easily made to the timeline without any repercussions that would affect the present. I’m no physicist, but I’m like they’re distorting the space time continuum. But I guess there’s two ways to write time travel: parallel universes (time moving like tree branches) or a linear timeline. And the other chose the former. What I liked about the book: 1) There was a clever scene about secret messages 2) Elaine and Jeff’s relationship 3) the method/rules to time travel is vague but reasonable enough for the reader to understand. 4) pretty good use of foreshadowing. Narration: I like Ross Pendleton’s narration. It was easy to distinguish who was talking and the audio quality was high. I would listen to a book narrated by him again.

Everything in it’s Time

I liked the book- looking back it was a little drawn out but I think it had to be in order to understand the full narrative. I loved the characters and especially the brother sister relationship. Spend the credit on this novel and the following trilogy by Dee Davis.

A Timeless Romance

When reading this book, don’t think about but won’t this happen if this happen, things. Just enjoy the moment of the book and the romance that develops. The romance between Katherine and Ian is timeless, literally and figuratively. Dee Davis is excellent in writing a story that will envelope you within their lives and their struggle to continue to find their love. I don’t think the book was confusing, however it does jump from the past to the future from one chapter to the next. But I found it easy to figure out what time I was in and with whom.

This book checked all my boxes for a great Scottish romance, Alpha Scottish hot as sin male, Check. Headstrong, beautiful lass, Check. Damsel in distress, Check. Some action to liven things up, Check. Passionate love scenes, check, check, check. HEA, CHECK. And a narrator voices that delivers a superb Scottish accent, mmm CHECK.

Beautiful Story!

Would you listen to Everything in Its Time again? Why?

I have listened to this book twice and loved it both times. Beautifully written, time travel love story. I laughed, cried and held my breath. Passionate, enduring, romantic and sweet. Every girls fantasy.

What does Ross Pendleton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Excellent narration. Nice deep sensual voice for the male characters. His voice as Ian gave me shivers and goosebumps!

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book. It's a great time travel adventure of true love!

Good

I struggled with the narrator voice. Doesnt do a good female. A pretty good story line with a difference but needs more character development and the love scenes are very male in there description which doesnt really do it for us chicks ....

Worth reading!

I have loved reading Scottish historical romances for many years. I really love the highlander time travel romances. This was a fabulous book! There were many intense scenes and the story kept me so interested that I couldn't wait to hear (Listened to the audio version), about what was going to happen next. Iain and Katherine's love was so powerful, that it crossed the chasm of time across 500 years. I especially loved that the author had her brother go back to save her which in turn changed the course of history for the good. The way the author described the setting made me feel like I was there and I love that in a story. It makes you fantasize about being in the main characters places, wishing for a love like that. Even though it was hard living back in medieval times, I think that love and family were very strong which made the hard times a lot more bearable. I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read the next one!

A Sweet Surprise ..Totally loved it !!!

Hunkie Highlander blended with Romance, Time -Travel ,and a well-crafted story line... performed by a very good narrator....I was in Audiobook Heaven !! I'm still smiling !! And I will re-read this one again :)
Time travel / fantasy is not my usual selection, so I'm glad I took a chance on this book. I will definitely listen to the next two books in the trilogy.
