Publisher's summary

They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't - or won't - understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.

AMAZING!! INCREDIBLE!!

THIS IS HANDS DOWN MY MOST FAVORITE BOOK EVER!! Hilary Huber is hands down my favorite narrator! I have listened to this book and the second one at least 15 times each, and I never get tired of listening to them. Trust me on this, if you listen to a book only once, there are things you missed! I started with the other books in The Demonica Series and I really love them all; however, the narrator makes a huge difference and unfortunately a couple of the narrators are just "readers" and there is a huge difference between the two! I so wish that Hilary had read all of The Demonica Series books, but most especially the The Lords of Deliverance series. The "readers" of the 3rd & 4th books in The Lords Series are horrible. So, I've only listened to them once or twice... sorry! I did buy them all though, they are phenomenal! Larissa, I love ya and I love your books, but please have Hilary read any others you write! She could read the phone book and I would love it! I will add that Renee Raudman is also an excellent narrator, so either one of these ladies would do your books much justice. Keep writing, I'm standing by... and THANKS!!

Love the story, but the narrator was irritating!

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator would slow down in parts that didn't need to be prolonged and she would whisper so I could barely hear her at times. Overall pace of the reading was slow and that says a lot because I do the majority of my

Any additional comments?

This is Larissa Ione's Spin-off story to the Demonica series which I enjoyed very much. It has new characters but it is still set in the same world as the Demonica series with some of the same main characters from that series playing minor roles in this new series. It is nice to hear about a lot of the older characters and how their lives have evolved as well as getting to meet the new characters and experiencing the trials and tribulations along with love and friendship that they have to face.

So disappointing

I am a huge fan of Larrissa Ione, but I couldn't finish this book. I think it may have been the narrator, as her voice kept going up and down, with whispers so soft you couldn't even hear what she was saying. Her sentences regularly seemed to trail off in a whisper? I don't know why, which made it a chore to listen to. The heroine was unfortunately extremely whiny and annoying. She didn't improve. She didn't believe the gorgeous Horseman Ares with the facts even when incidents occurred in front of her face. I understand the disbelief in the first chapter when it is new to you, but to be listening for over 3 hours and she still doesn't believe and still whines about every measure that Ares takes to keep her safe, I feel like throwing her to the bad guys and seeing if she believes the truth then! Very disappointing from an author that has an amazing Demonica series under her belt.
