Publisher's summary

They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't - or won't - understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.

Any fond feelings I have for this book are overshadowed by the narrator. Is it just me or does her voice change volume levels way too much? Occasionally there is a constant level and the narration is great. But when I'm listening while working out I feel like I'm missing half of what she's saying. Please tell Hillary to back off on the "soft talking".

Very good story...

Good story with a good narrator. I'll be sure and get the next one in this series. Fair amount of sex so if you have problems with those scenes......

I've always enjoyed this author when I read her other series and now hearing this new one, I like that she kept this series in the same world as her Demonica series. It might help if you've read that one before this one.

Great story but wide variation in audio volume

Would you consider the audio edition of Eternal Rider to be better than the print version?

No. There were parts that I missed while listening because the narrator varied the volume of her voice SO MUCH and I was not in a position to rewind to catch things. That's actually my only complaint (that and the fact that the sample only covers the definitions portion of the story). I should never need to adjust the volume on an audiobook, and I found my finger largely on the volume buttons because the narrator would speak softly then loud, softly then loud. The emotion and performance was actually quite good but WAY too much volume variation.

Never thought of the Horseman like this!

This part of Larissa's demonic world grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go! I fee; the Horsemen storyline is much more involved, more action backed and stimulating than the first five books. Don't get me wrong, those were are interesting and give a good perspective bu, for me, the real part of the tale has come alive

Loving the Horsemen!!!

Cara Thornhart has lived with fear, her strange ability, and a love for animals. One night her whole world changes in an instant and she is throw head first in to a fight she never knew existed. The fight for all human kind! She is the key to starting or stopping the apocalypse, the freakin’ apocalypse! Not only that but demons, angels, all of it are real! Her new bodyguard is none other the Ares, Death if his seal breaks and one of the Four Horsemen! He’s ruthless, hates hellhounds with every part of his being and is somehow becoming protective of Cara for reasons other than stopping his seal from breaking.

Steamy hot, exciting and best of all some of our favorite characters from Demonica are here as well! What could be better?!

Totally addictive lose sleep series

Yeah! Narration issue from Demonica did not transfer over to Lords of Deliverance. Happy Dance! I had this series as physical books, kindle books and audible-- I didn't even realize it. So yeah I love this series! One of my top 5 best series.

Oh baby!!

Like another reviewer said, you have to love Larissa Ione!! This series follows right behind the Demonica series and I do suggest you read them first because some of the characters bleed into this series.

The animals in the series are awesome and I love the way they play an integral part of the stories. It adds a new twist to the usual paranormal romance.

Larissa Ione has definately become one of my favorite authors. This series is full of action and steamy romance. It does not get much better. I definitely recommend this series.

Very cool premise

I really love the idea of this book and it's fairly well executed too. I really enjoyed the new twist on familiar characters. Being dropped right into the middle of the world is a great way to start things off. The premise was introduced well and quickly. I felt immediately like I knew what was going on. It wasn't until the human element was brought in that I started having issues.

The main female character's introduction to the non-human side of things was quite abrupt and jarring. It was well written though, because it did feel jarring to me too; so I could empathize.

The main male character was really well written and as believable as a character written as one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse can be believable. :)

The chemistry between the two characters was great and so was the development of their relationship.

However, some of the 'technical' terms that were used and some descriptions of the 'underworld' blurred together into a big mess of stuff I didn't really need to know to enjoy the book. Maybe that information will come in more as the series goes on, but it was a bit too much for this book.

I definitely plan to continue reading the series and will also seek out other books by this author.

I will be doing this in love letter form since I read Books 1 to 4 back to back

“She'd read somewhere that normal, healthy men got up to twenty erections a day. Um...yep, Ares was definitely healthy.”― Larissa Ione, Eternal Rider

Love Letter to Ares/War and Cara

Dear Ares: You are what a man of war should be: logical, strategical, and focused. I love that you are loyal, hard-nosed, and clearly in charge of your surroundings. However, it was the second you got knocked on your ass by Cara and your world started spinning that I really fell in love with you! I do like that there was resolution of some of the things from your past. Now I hope you and Cara have a long and animal filled life.

Dear Cara: How can I not want to have girls night out with a girl who loves animals so dearly. I am thinking I need a hellhound except that I am pretty sure my furrbabies would just teach it how to be lazy. I love that you are strong, smart, and mouthy. Thank you for not breaking Ares seal and making the world safe from War. You are the kind of woman who would be an awesome friend. One of my favorite types of leading ladies.

Dear Story: You were so action packed, thrilling, and good paced. I was impressed with the mythology tweaking. All of the elements (Guardians, Horseman, Watchers) were fascinating and drew me in immediately. I can't wait to see where we are going next! Just going to say it (don't get made) but I feel bad for "R/P". He didn't want to be what he is!

Audio Thought:

Narrated by Hillary Huber / LENGTH 12 hrs and 33 mins

Hillary did a pretty good job! I thought her pacing was excellent and it didn't take me long to get into the voices at all. The only thing that was a little off-putting was Pest's voice. It took me forever to get comfortable with it. I switched over to the paper copy at the end but that has nothing to do with the narrations and all about my impatience.

A bit gruesome

A bit more descriptive in Gore and aggressive sex then I like but I found this book compelling and riveting, I can't wait for the next one.
