Publisher's summary

They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his powerful shoulders. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, but even he cannot fight his destiny forever. Not when his own brother plots against him.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can't - or won't - understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety and his doom. But involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire that seizes them the moment they meet. For staving off eternal darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.

Unique Story Line

Would you listen to Eternal Rider again? Why?

The Author did an excellent job of developing realistic personalities for the main characters. Great detail was also given to providing the background information for the unique story line.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ares, tthe 2nd Horeseman of the Apocalypse, was portrayed wonderfully and the reader is touched by his internal emotional conflict that stems from his mixed bloodline. Honorable mention also goes to Ares' brother, Pestilence and the female main character Cara.

Hot, sexy and bad-assed horsemen of the Apocalypse

This was my first book by Larissa Ione. I find that she built a very complex world of the Horsemen. She showed how each of the horsemen is pulled by their other side even when their seals hadn’t broken yet. It was great to have a story built on the apocalyptic stories of the bible. It was very easy to envision the world she built.

I was very surprised at the gruff nature of Ares. I understand he is War, but I was still surprised. He is a tortured soul who doesn’t believe in love. So of course he gets matched up with Cara who is not looking for anything, especially not a man.

The story revolves are Ares and Cara. She is passed his agimortus (a way of passing the seal to someone else) but since she is human, the agimortus should kill her. It is only because of the bond with the hellhound puppy that she remains alive, but is slowly being drained of her life force. In the meantime, Pestilence is searching for Ares agimortus and when he discovers that Cara has it, she becomes his target.

The one thing that I thought was hard to swallow was the fact that they kept returning to Ares’ island even though Pestilence knows they are there. They are in hiding. How many times does he have to find them in the same place before they decide … gee maybe we should hide someplace else.

If you want smoking hot sex scenes, bad-ass characters, and a little apocalyptic action this is your book!

On Narration:
Hillary Huber’s voice was easy to listen to, mature, and sounded age-appropriate. Her male voices were good and do not to take away from the story. Overall, I think it was a very good narration.

Excellent New Series from Larissa Ione!

Lords of Deliverance is a spin-off of Larissa's Demonica series, and it is excellent. You don't need to first read the Demonica series to enjoy this book, but it does makes the book richer if you know the story of the side characters from the Demonica series. Larissa does a great job developing characters and carrying them through her various books. This is the story of Ares, a Horseman of the Apocalpse, and Cara, a human with a special power over animals. Ares is 7 foot of delicious - a stong warrior with a good heart. I love Cara's link to the animals in the book. The narrator - Hillary Huber - is great. This book is totally worth the credit! On to Book 2!

Excellent book...except...

I love the Demonica series. Fun and engaging. However, there is one scene=character action and motivation, that literally almost ruins the entire book.

Spoiler: Kara (heroine) is the carrier of Aries (hero) agimortis, a supernatural way that if she is killed, it will break Aries seal and he will become War, thus setting off the apocalypse and billions will die.

As a human, Kara can only carry the agimortis for a shot time before she dies setting off the apocalypse. The three horesman whose seal hasn't broken are desperate to avoid becoming evil, so they are searching for a fallen angel to take over the seal, because "fallens" can carry it without dying.

Pestilence, who's seal has broken is busy killing fallens. He is evil because his seal has broken.

Understandably, the fallen dosen't want the agimortis. So Kara, in her sappy, "I can't take away this angels choice," decides she can't force the angel to take it. So essentially, she doesn't kill Hitler when she had the chance because....feelz. Even my most vegan, tree hugger friends would have made a different choice than Kara made.

There had to be a better way to further the story without this "too stupid to live" choice by the heroine.

Other than this one niggling point...great book. Good narrator.
