An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness … and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.
Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she’s only imagined in her worst nightmares.
At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he’d seen it all. Then Kira appears—this fearless, beautiful human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.
With danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.

“In the second spin-off from the best-selling Night Huntress series, Frost produces a tale that is wildly romantic as well as action-packed. If Frost keeps this up, fans will need to build more keeper shelves!” (Romantic Times)
I am in love with pararomance and am always trying to find new series with a great story and sizzling hot spots!
Steamy, exciting, addicting
Learning more about Mencarys
I love everything about her performances!
Oh most definitely
I love all the Night Huntress books, but this is my favorite.
I think it's safe to say that I'm addicted to these books. Lord knows what I'm going to do when I run out of Night Huntress books to read. I can be listening to perfectly good audiobooks and I just keep thinking that there's still Night Huntress books that I haven't listened to yet. But to this book in particular, it was great. I loved seeing another side of the emotionless and stoic Mencheres that we'd seen so far in the other books. In this book, Mencheres falls hard and fast for Kira and we get to see his walls come down. We also get to see/hear what's in his head and his thoughts are anything but emotionless. And Kira is a terrific main character. She's strong and thinks things out. She refuses to be swayed from her beliefs by something that's misleading.
This was a very good story. I liked the narrator much better in this book than I do in the Cat and Bones stories. I think that's mostly because she wasn't screwing up Mencheres' voice the way she does Bones'.
I do have to admit, though, I will be glad to get back to a book starring Cat and Bones.

I love the world and how the characters come to life.
Vampires and romance.
I really like hearing her voice doing Bones with an English accent.
Everything you want in one book.
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
Yes!!!!! It was wonderful!!! It was a softer side of Mencheres....I really loved it!!
It was similar to all the Night Huntress Books....and just as fabulous!!!
The personality and feelings of each character...she fleshes them out so wonderfully...she gives them such life, you can almost see them!!

Leaning about Mencharies
Tavia Gilbert is my favorite Narrator
I loved the whole book
I must say I am a Jeaniene Frost Fan for life...
I love the Night Huntress Books, and this "spin off" didn't disapoint! It filled in blanks that were missing when I read the main series. Tavia is wonderful again and keeps the characters in voice character, not missing a beat! You'll love this book, just get it already! :) You need it to complete the series anyway!
Hot romance/Sci Fi we're so lucky to have Audible to feed our book addictions. I love walking my precious dog Sydney & listening to my books
Excellent addition to the Night Huntress series. Love her books. Always exciting and engaging. A must read :)
Another great installment in the 'Night Huntress World' series from Jeanienne Frost and this one is even better than the first. The character of the powerful and misunderstood Mencheres is one of my favourites, so it was good to see him expanded on. Kira was a much stronger female character than Denise in the first book too. The narration is very good, although I still find the voice for Bones annoying, but as he only appears briefly in this one, it doesn't detract. Well worth the money!
This series is addicting!!! Highly recommended. The plot is intricate, characters compelling and narration superb. I often forget that I have not seen these in a movie format because once you begin listening you are immediatly emersed into the world of the night huntress - Thank you Jeaniene Frost for sharing your gift.
I thought the idea for the story was great. I just found that Mencheres was just too stuffy and I found the lack of humor turned down the idea of sex with Mencheres to be something boring as well. Poor Kira, no way she can enjoy Mencheres because he is such a stick in the mud. The cover also bothered me. Mencheres is described as an Egyptian with long dark hair. Clearly the guy on the cover is NOT Egyptian and is so pale and not hot at all. This is a sticking point for me though. I cannot stand the rote covers that manufactures put out for such a large business.
That being said, the storyline was worth listening to and I do not regret purchasing the book. I think it's an ok buy but caution that the sex is just ok.
