In this pulse-pounding and thrillingly sensual novel, New York Times best-selling author Lara Adrian returns to the mesmerizing world of the Midnight Breed, following new characters into a dark future where an uneasy peace can unravel into war - and a great betrayal can mask an all-consuming love.
Twenty years after the terror of First Dawn - when mankind learned that vampires lived secretly among them - the threat of violence reigns as the two species struggle to coexist. The only group preserving the fragile harmony is the Order, an elite cadre of Breed warriors dedicated to protecting humans and vampires alike. And in this precarious world of torn loyalties and shattered trust, Mira, a fiery squad captain, finds that every fight bears an intensely personal cost.
Raised among the Order, Mira has always believed in the warrior’s code of swift - and even lethal - justice. But the one thing she desires more than the Order’s hard-won acceptance is Kellan Archer, a sexy but troubled Breed fighter. In love with him since childhood, Mira once broke through his tough exterior during an unexpected night of rapture, but the next day he mysteriously disappeared, never to return.
Kellan didn’t think he would ever see Mira again - or have to confront the truth of why he left. After abandoning the Order years ago, he now leads a band of human rebels intent on carrying out their own vigilante rule of law. Yet a high-profile kidnapping assignment brings him face-to-face with the past he sought to avoid, and the striking woman he has tried desperately to forget. And as tensions mount and the risk of bloodshed grows, Kellan and Mira must take sides - between the competing missions that dominate their lives, and the electrifying passion that claims their hearts.

Storing twist just in time and perfectly executed! I love the path of this couple and can not wait to see where the story goes from here! Great narration, added so much to the characters!
I am always sad when a good series ends. I am really glad to see this one come back. It was good to catch up with some "old friends" and get an idea of what the next generation of the breed faces. Mira and Kellen were just kids when we last heard from them and they have grown into quite a strong pair. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I have listened to several series. Dark Series, Black Brother Hood and now this one. I have enjoyed the characters and the story so much I hate when I reach the end. I know its not the end of the series but I will have to wait for the next book.
the series changes into the children of the order being the warriors and you have to learn all new characters but its exciting and new.
yes because it was the turning book in the series.
thank you for this series please keep writing!
I love to read. I love all genres but romance in particular. The hotter and steamy and sexier book is the more I want to read it.
yes and no , the book is a good stand alone, but wonderful as a series and i would recommend this series.
The love story.
I am not sure if i have a facvorite ,
The death vision
Not one of my favorites but still good. The two main characters were hard for me to connect with so that was a problem but I did like the overall plot that involves all The Order. That part was good. I'll still read these as they come out but I didn't think this one was quite as good as the ones before.
Also I think part of it is this felt like a chunk of transition in the world and that can always be a problem.
I didn't read the print version but the narrator brings the story to life!
Seeing how the story is set a couple decades after the last book, it awesome to see how not just Mira but the other Breed children have grown.
bold, daring and caring
seeing all the new breed men and hoping for more great stories
Give me water to swim and surf in. That with a glass of white wine and the sun. That's heaven.
Yes, I have read every book on the breed by Lara Adrian and I have never been disappointed. It seems she just keeps getting better and better to the point I can hardly wait for the next in the series.I
Edger of Dawn might be closely compared to Darker after Midnight in that Dragos forces the warriors to come forward in order to protect "The Order" and Mankind.
Hillary Huber does a fantastic job with her performance every time. Using only the nuance of her voice and the spacing the characters each came alive.
