Publisher's summary

Sexy. Intriguing. Easy. Eli Boudreaux's family has built ships and boats in Louisiana for generations. He comes from a hardworking, wealthy family, and his empire is growing by leaps and bounds. At 30 he is the youngest CEO ever to head Bayou Enterprises, cochairing with his eldest brother. His head for business and his no-nonsense work ethic are also quickly making him the best the company has seen in generations. His staff admires him, women adore him, and Eli's family is solid. But he's recently discovered that someone on the inside of his business is stealing from him, and he's determined to find out who.

Kate O'Shaughnessy is hired by companies all over the world to slip inside and investigate every member of the organization, from the CEO down to the custodial staff, to find the person or persons responsible for embezzling. She's excellent at blending, becoming part of the team, and finding the weakest link. She's smart, she's quick witted, and she's now been hired by Bayou Enterprises, specifically Eli Boudreaux.

The attraction is immediate, and the chemistry is off the charts, but Kate has heard all about Eli's playboy past, and she has a job to do. Sleeping with the boss isn't a part of that job, even if just the sound of her name rolling off that Cajun tongue and the way he fills out a designer suit does make her sweat. Eli's Southern charms surprise Kate. The man whose reputation labels him as a ruthless, callous womanizer is not the man she's coming to know intimately. He's generous and protective, and he makes her smile.

Cracking through Kate's cool, reserved demeanor and discovering her love of sexy, expensive lingerie is a challenge Eli can't resist, but her sweet nature, love of family, and sense of humor pull at him in ways no one else ever has. But when the person responsible for trying to singlehandedly dismantle Eli's empire comes to light, and it's time for Kate to move on, to what lengths will Eli go to keep the woman he's fallen in love with by his side?

It's all about "Him".....Sebastian York!!!

I will have to say that I listened to this book due to the Narrator Sebastian York and as usual, he did not disappoint. I truly feel that he could read the medical dictionary and I would be riveted!!

HOWEVER.....the book was very good and I truly enjoyed the performance of Rachel Fulginiti....well done! Looking forward to the next installment.

Just okay

I really wanted to like this story bit I found of lacking. I loved the setting and the characters but Kate's role to find the thief kind of got lost.

As far as narration goes, Rachel did a fantastic job, even putting on an accent for Eli's character. Sebastian is a great narrator but I think someone with a true Cajun accent would have been better. It made the story inconsistent and took away from the fantasy.

YOU FEEL THE CULTURE, SIBLING DYNAMICS & ROMANCE

Poor Eli didn't know what hit him when he was introduced to Kate, the handsome, successful and sexy Playboy suddenly becomes reluctantly obsessed by his Sister's best friend and the woman who has come to his Company to find out who is embezzling thousands from him.

Instant attraction, witty and sexy banter, off the charts chemistry and lust is pulling Eli to Kate but he has sworn off love (for reasons that will be revealed) but as they talk he can't help touching her, gets jealous if she mentions another man and his mind continually imagines her naked and beneath him. Then he mentally argues with himself, resists temptation and reaches for his 'little black book' but for some reason no-one else will do. Kate is confused at Eli's hot and cold attitude towards her as she would love nothing more than a brief affair with the sexy, testosterone filled hottie. But she's in New Orleans to catch up with old friends, have a bit of fun with them and reveal a criminal..... well that does all happen and so much more.

Witty internal dialogue, mental and physical anguish, a lot of deep breaths, cold showers and a bucket full of "I mustn't go there" doesn't stop Eli from craving Kate but when her life is threatened it's game over for him built-up passion finally snaps his resolve and sexy times happily follow..... and Eli loves dirty talk too. However, they both know there's always an end-time to their affair and neither one seems eager to reveal their true deep feelings before she boards the plane to fly home.

Great family dynamics and banter between all the Boudreaux's and an entertaining, amusing and hot romance makes up most of this listen but there's also heartbreak, high anxiety and drama when one of the family is viciously attacked and Kate has a near death experience too when she gets closer to who the thief is and the embezzler has murder in mind.

Worth a credit? Kristen Proby has delivered yet another truly enjoyable and entertaining story which was a dual POV listen but, whilst the female narrator did attempt a Cajun accent for Eli, Sebastian York never did which made it an inconsistent listen and I love SY's sexy voice but I wonder if his vocal range is limited! Despite this slight peeve of mine it was another creditworthy listen by KA and I'm happily trying to work my way through ALL of her books.

Unrealistic and Predictable

Ok, so Eli is this so-called "manwhore" who supposedly never gave his heart to any woman and only had one night stands or certain women he'd hooked up with the scratch the itch. Yet, only MINUTES after meeting Kate, he instantly turns into a caveman and is all over her. All this in the first chapter, mind you. Uh... Yeah. The rest of the story was 70% sex and 30% actual story. I love a good sex scene as much as the next person, but it was just missing that element to keep me interested. I haven't even finished it yet (I have an hour left) and I'm in no hurry to finish it. After all, I already know how it's going to end, so I'm in no rush. Instead of blocking out the world while on the edge of my seat anxiously listening, I'm searching for my next listen - hopefully something much better.

Just so that you can have a better idea of what I consider to be good, no, GREAT (everyone has different tastes and I find that this helps other's better interpret my comments. While this book wasn't my thing, it may be for someone else...) I absolutely LOVE Sylvia Day's Crossfire series, The On Dublin Street series by Samantha Young, Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, 50 Shades series by E.L. James, The Blackstone Affair series by Raine Miller, Thoughtless series by S. C. Stephens, the Real series by Katy Evans, the Falling series by Jasinda Wilder, and of course - The Game Maker series by Kresley Cole (My absolute favorite is book 2, The Master - Awesome!!!!!!!) Hope this helps! And if you haven't listened to any of these, you really should! You have no idea what you've been missing!

I really wanted to love this...but,

I am a die hard Sebastian York fan. I will listen to books just because he is the narrator. When I saw him and New Orleans (my favorite place) together I was thrilled!! And while his voice is still perfect, I hope he never utters the words Chere or Bebe again! You can not play a southern Louisiana man without a drawl! I still love him, but that was like nails on a chalk board horrible. To make it worse the female narrator tried (and failed) at the accent. This lead to a pretty bad disconnect between the two parts. Next time you need a Louisiana character, get Brian Troxel, he is amazing!

As for the book...sigh, lackluster, predictable, and at times just bad. The theme of domestic violence and rape were way to lightly thrown around which made the plot seem forced. Characters were far underdeveloped, one demential and average. All that said, if Sebastian York could have pulled off the accent, it would not have hated it.

Terrible Accents

What didn’t you like about Sebastian York and Rachel Fulginiti ’s performance?

They should ask how to pronounce words from this area. Cher is not Cher it is Sha. And the depiction of the New Orleans accent is just awful.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Annoyance

Boring

I couldn't get through it. The narrator for The guy didn't even try to capture his southern character, which would have been fine if the narrator for the woman hadn't read him that way -- no coordination. But no narration could've made this weak writing worth listening to. I could not care about these cardboard characters or the insipid plot.

Awful!

I suppose somewhere between the gratuitous sex and the unnecessary cursing, there was a story line. However, I could not dig deep enough to find it. I bought this audiobook because of the male narrator. He is the only reason I listened to more than a few chapters. I regret this purchase. The writing is atrocious.

Decent Story. FANTASTIC NARRATION!

This was a decent story. It was pretty much all about the romance and not much else. The underlying story was a little weak. I think it could have been better had it included a little more than just the attraction and sex between the two main characters, Eli and Kate.

I would have liked it to have delved more into why Kate was there and her investigation into the embezzlement. There can only be so much sex in a story to the point it becomes a little monotonous. Luckily this was not a really long book, which saved it. Anymore of them just having sex would have made this a 1 star story.

I liked all the characters very much. There is lots of dialogue throughout the book which is good. I will listen to the next book if it's narrated by Sebastian York and Rachel Fugiliti.

As far as the narration..... Well Sebastian York can read a dictionary it will amazing! It's like my ears winning the lottery! Rachel Fulginiti did a very good job too.

I did find it odd that she gave him the creole accent the book called for but SY did not do an accent.

I do think the narration helped this story quite a bit. If I had just read it I might have just skimmed half of it. Okay not might, I would have. I think without this narration this story would have been a fail in my opinion.

Narration makes for a very bad experience

I won't even speak about the story because the narrators won't let me focus on it. Nobody can deny Sebastian York has a delicious voice, but he lacks some depth and can't do an accent for the life of him so in this case it's better he didn't even try. Rachel Fulginiti did try the accents but she was so bad at them, especially the creole, that it was a painful listen. The disparity of only one narrator doing the accents is also unforgivable in terms of production.
