Publisher's summary

Miranda Puckett has failed at every job she’s ever had. Her mother just wants her to come home, join the family law firm, and settle down with Jason, the perfect lawyer boyfriend. But when Jason turns out to be a lying cheater, Miranda seizes on a job that gets her out of town: long-distance vampire transportation.

Her first assignment is to drive vampire Collin Sutherland from Washington to sleepy Half Moon Hollow without incident—no small feat for a woman whom trouble seems to follow like a faithful hound dog! And she has to do it without letting her passenger—the most persnickety, stuffy, devastatingly handsome vamp she’s ever met—drive her crazy. As she and Collin find disaster on the roads, they also find an undeniable spark between them. Could Miranda have found the perfect job and the perfect guy for her?

DIFFERENT ORDER, GREAT READS

Would you consider the audio edition of Driving Mr. Dead to be better than the print version?

I love Ms. Ronconi's style of reading so I enjoy the audio version of the series.

What did you like best about this story?

The different circumstances throughout the journey Miranda and Colin were involved in. The surprising friendships and relationships built between the series.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have the Jane Jamieson and the Werewolf series and they're all great. She really draws you into the stories.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Miranda pawned her engagement ring and found out it was fake.

Any additional comments?

I listen to the Jane Jamieson series followed by The Care and Feeding of a Stray Vampire, THEN Driving Mr. Dead. The Care and Feeding introduces Iris Scanlon and then you know how Miranda got her job.

Judging a Book By It's Cover

Would you listen to Driving Mr. Dead again? Why?

This book is hillarious! The cover makes this book look cheesy...and it has it's moments, but the laughs and wit make up for it. Fun read.

OMG! I have made that drive! Well sans vampire.

Frist, there isn't a writer I love more that Molly Harper, or a narrator more than Amanda Ronconi. They are the perfect combo!

I have made that drive in the opposite direction - South to Northwest - with near identical pitfalls. It was funny and cringe-worthy. It moved almost too fast for me. I didn't want it to end.

IF YOU DON'T LAUGH YOU MAY NOT HAVE A PULSE!

This book is pure entertainment! Short, funny, & the story wraps up by the end - my kind of book. I laughed out loud & couldn't stop. The main character is hired to drive a vampire cross country & that's where the mayham begins. The narrator adds to the slapstick comments & it works.

Witty and fun.

What did you like about this audiobook?

Like all of Molly's books, it's fun and a breath of fresh air. I didn't want the story to end. The characters inner monologs are always a hoot, you never know what she's going to say.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

I love listening to Amanda Ronconi, she brings the characters to life. I especially like how she has done all of Molly's books. Can't wait for the next they do together

Do you have any additional comments?

If you enjoyed this book you must listen to the rest of Molly Harpers collection, they will make you laugh your ass off and you will listen to them over and over again.

Reminded me of "bringing up baby".

If you've ever seen the Cary Grant movie "bringing up baby" the story is the same kind of slapstick comedy that made this movie famous.

Wish it were longer...

... and I think that's actually a very high compliment. I was having such fun listening to this story, that I didn't want it to end. This is just fun fiction. Don't expect great themes or lessons. It's just storytelling at a wonderful level. Miranda Puckett is exactly the kind of character you'd expect Molly Harper to write if you're a Molly Harper fan. She loves and respects women. She hates male a-holes. And she is OK with a "contest of equals" when these strong women come up against guys who might have the manliness to actually respect these strong women... even when being thoroughly annoyed or confounded by them. Molly Harper is a true storyteller. I'll read or listen to absolutely anything she cares to write.
