I am the exception to the rule...
In a world full of willing women, I'm a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He's the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor-thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.
Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.
I can't give him what he wants and he can't give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?
Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

I'm proud to be a bookaholic...addicted, obsessed, passionate!!! My favorite way to relax & escape reality....
I've actually read book #1 Driven & book #2 Fueled but still decided to try it in audio. I can say that each book gets better and better. I'm still waiting on the last book Crashed to be released in March. Can't wait!! Driven is told from the perspective of Rylee Thomas. She's a 26yrs old working for Corporate Cares, a company that houses orphans. The state turns over their guardianship to her company. Corporate Care, houses kids who are at an age that the chance of adoptions are pretty low. So instead of foster care, they have a home to live in, they have consistency of guardians, rules, school and counselling. Rylee meets Colton Donavan backstage at a charity auction, after getting trapped in the storage closet, Rylee starts to have a panic attack when Colton saves the day. They share an instant attraction, but in the heat of the moment, Rylee realizes that the man that has her body pinned up against him, was only minutes ago getting it on with another woman in the hallway near by. Rylee is soooo not impressed with his playboy slut games and wants nothing to do with any of it. Unfortunately, this refusal only sparks Colton's relentless seduction and chase of Rylee. Before the night is over Rylee finds herself rescued, kissed, insulted, pursued, tempted, coerced and ultimately obligated to a date thanks to a donation paid for by Colton Donavan. Needless to say they are off to a bumpy start. Rylee is very broken with a tragic past and she will fight his seduction every step of the way. Colton however is used to getting what he wants and “Driven” is his middle name. Her resistance only serves to fuel his determination. He ends up making a huge contribution to Corporate Cares and Rylee finds herself working side-by-side with Colton on the project. It becomes apparent that Colton has some major demons which he is determined to keep to himself. Everything about their relationship is so incredibly intense - the good, the bad, the sex, the drama. It's full on. I loved the chemistry between them, these two were hot. Even the scenes where they don't actually have sex were extremely HOT! It was definitely one of those books were 'getting there'was just as good as the act itself. I will admit, I spent the first 70% of the book seriously frustrated with both Rylee & Colton. The push and pull - he wants her, she resists, she gives in, he pushes her away, she lets him, he pursues her, she resists, she gives in, she runs away, she comes back, he resists, he gives in.... It drove me freaking crazy! Colton’s and Rylee’s story move along a break-neck speed but come to a crashing halt with a cliff-hanger ending. I recommend you continue with the next book Fueled when Audible releases it.
I will probably not listen again due to the awful narration.
Sexy Colton with the dirty mouth.
I felt the narrator didn't read the book beforehand therefore could not bring the proper depth of and feeling to the story. Her male voices were juvenile and sounded like cartoon characters. I felt her tone and inflection were totally off for most of the story. I stopped listening during the first chapter because it was SO off but eventually pushed through just because I loved this book so much.
I hope against all hope that a different narrator will be doing the next book "Fueled" Grace Grant would be a great choice. Sebastian York's sexy as sin voice would be perfect for Colton's POV.
I LOVE this story and this author, and purchased the audio version because the story is so good. However this narrator just ruined the entire story for me. She spoke too fast most of the time, had very little emotion for the Rylee character, and her male voice, or at least her Colton voice, was a major turn-off. He just sounded sleazy.
I really hope there is a different narrator for Fueled, which is the next book in the 3 book series. Someone who can do a decent male voice and puts more feeling into the characters.
Although I am not happy about it, some authors have decided to divide one story into three books. However, Bromberg ends book one before any pieces of the plot come together. The cliffhanger ends book 1 in the middle of a conflict .
Rylee has been surviving after a big loss. In the story, she meets a gorgeous, self confident man to whom she feels an attraction for the first time in ages. Colton Donavan has issues of his own that prevent him from participating in more than a one night stand or a fling type relationship.
During their first encounter, they both feel the chemistry. However, chemistry or not, Rylee keeps getting her emotions shattered by Colton. Why would she do that?
If cliffhangers are your thing, the writing is good, the narrator is good, and you will enjoy the series. However, cliffhangers are not for me - even though at the end of book three, I know- well I am almost sure - everything will wrap up into happily ever after.
It's all about romance in my library! I have a wonderful husband, children and my grandchildren they are my rock.
Top of my list!!
How Colton's bond with the Boys! Especially when Colton went to the school to prove a point.
She does a good job.
Yes, when Colton went to the school and the ending part. This was a cliffhanger, I couldn't wait for the audible for the 2nd book so I downloaded the 2nd book to my Kindle.
In this first book we meet caring, capable and insecure Rylee who is being pursued by the bad boy Playboy Colton and he always gets what he wants - but on his terms which just aren't what she's looking for. Two previously damaged and haunted characters, each with their own hellish story to be told, seem to be drawn to each other with sizzling electrifying chemistry and neither one can resist the other's pull..
A great story with a good selection of secondary characters, a few jealous b*tches, a dirty talking, successful, rich and gorgeous Alpha type with a lot of sad mental baggage, lots of hot sex in this touching/sad/funny/frustrating love story that had me hooked from Chapter 1 until the very end.
Worth a credit? I'm glad that I downloaded the whole trilogy as I'm so committed to finding out what terrible secrets and hurdles are next that K Bromberg has expertly written for the unsuspecting Rylee and Colton. This is one that I'll be sad to delete from my playlist and YES so very very creditworthy.
Like the romance, but love the action involved to get there!
Strong female lead...check! Devilish bad boy who doesn't think he knows how to love, or be loved...check! Sexual chemistry off the charts.....check! Secondary characters that are so full of life I want this series to continue for years....check...check...check!
Ah....it's not often I find a book that I can't put down. Typically if there is a bunch of contrived drama I just put the whole book down. I really don't like drama for the sake of a story or to continue a plot, it just aggravates me.
This book had a lot of drama, but I could see it all happening to someone I know, which makes it real and gets me invested, not made for fiction dribble that makes me want to throw my iphone and scream "GET REAL!"...that's what this book felt like for me, simply put, it felt real.
Could I see our leading lady Riley having a fairly normal life and one day her world changes and she has lost her fiance, her future, and nearly her life....but she is moving on and trying to live again through helping orphaned kids find homes, a place to be feel safe, so that their lives aren't as empty as hers...yeah, I could see someone wanting to bring people's lives back to them when inside she is emotionally shut down about her own feelings and emotions and not really living.
Could I see a famous race car driver having less than an ideal childhood so as an adult he doesn't know how to give or accept love, he only knows how to use people and get used by them....yeah....I can see that happening too. There are things we learn as children, or don't learn, that stay with us for life.
This is book 1 of the series...and yes there is a cliffhanger, but the whole book is just great at the buildup, the sexual tension, the chemistry, the plausibility of it all....whew....I'm sure I'll be writing about book 2 shortly.
I am a lover of books. I enjoy losing myself in a fabulous romance and great story plot.
OH MY GOODNES!! OH MY FREAKEN GOODNESS!!! I went straight through this series and did not stop (not even to write a review in between books). Because of the frustration of various reviewers who read the books prior to the release of the complete trilogy, I made sure to start this series until all 3 books were out because I didn't want to go through the same pain, and THANK GOODNESS because this was a ride I could not get off of or take a break from.
All I can say is get ready for an emotional ride that is intense, deep, frustrating, exhilarating, and sexy as heck! OMG, K. Bromberg gives us Colton Donavan and Rylee Thomas's love story which is one of the most beautiful, difficult, complicated stories that will lodge itself in your heart, forever.
In Driven, we get the beginning of Colton and Rylee's love affair. OMG, and let me tell you this couple has this flaming-hot, all-consuming chemistry with one another. I loved their banter, their verbal sparing, and their inability to fight the strong pull toward one another. Colton, a famous race car driver finds himself smitten with Rylee, who he meets at a fundraiser for the purpose of building a home for boys in the fostercare system. Rylee runs Corporate Cares, where she oversees the care and wellbeing of 7 boys along with her staff.
Rylee and Colton meet through this chance encounter and their roller coaster ride of a relationship is all extreme highs and lows from there. Both have scared pasts, but Colton is definitely more broken. He is a beautiful man who is tortured by his past; a consummate playboy who is insists on his own rules when dating women. But, Rylee throws this man for a loop, because she's not like any of the other women he typically dates. And, I thought it was genius of Colton to bind Rylee to himself through this contract between their corporations where she was to accompany him to various events to promote and fundraise for the new boys' home as an agreement for a million dollar donation from his corporation---VERY SMOOTH COLTON!!!!
Rylee is beautiful as well, a strong woman with a heart for hurt boys with amethyst colored eyed and dark locks of hair. The woman is a sight, and Colton knows she is something special; someone who deserves more than he can give her, but that doesn't stop his pursuit of Rylee. I loved how Colton pursued Rylee. He was charming, funny, playful, and insistent, yet he was also emotionally distant, hurtful and closed off. This book ends with a MAJOR cliffhanger (lucky for me I just plowed through with book 2), and I was left wondering if Colton was worth it for Rylee. Yes, the man is gorgeous with his green eyes, hard body, and charming way, but with his mood swings and warnings to Rylee seemed something to weigh carefully. I wondered if it was better for her to find a boring, traditional guy instead of dealing with the pain she was in for with Colton……well, since I've read the end of the trilogy all I can say is YES, Colton is definitely worth Rylee's investment of the heart!!!!
Narrator: Tatiana Sokolov was great! I loved her performance. She made this audiobook one enjoyable experience!
I didn't read the print version, but I love the audio version. Some of the other reviews said they didn't like Tatiana Sokolov voice, I thought it was perfect. She did a great job with the different characters voices too! I have returned audio books because of some of the other narrators voices, but Tatiana's was very fitting and perfect for this series.
The whole book was a memorable moment!
I have not, but will listen to more of her narrations she does a GREAT job!
Definitely worth a credit!!!
I'm addicted to audiobooks, particularly erotica and romance.
Some of the sex scenes were hot.
I wasn't surprised by the ending, but it is annoying how authors now seem to give you a cliffhanger at the end of the first book in a series.
Nice love story. Liked the male character better than the female, and I'm hoping the second book is more of his story.
"rollercoasters of story"
love this book story, so good you just get so drawn into the characters and were the story is going so cant wait for next two book to come.
50 shades of gray, bared to you, this man,
