Publisher's summary

For most, a plane crash means the end of life. For Dusti Dawson, it's just the beginning...Dusti and her sister Batina survived the crash, thanks to a couple of brothers who are equal parts menacing and muscled. She'd be grateful...if they hadn't turned out to be delusional kidnappers, who believe Dusti's grandfather is some monstrous halfbreed creature bent on murder. Turns out Vampires, Lycans, and Gargoyles do exist - and they've been crossbreeding to form two hybrid races. Drantos, the man Dusti can't stop lusting after, is one of the most dangerous of all.

VampLycans Drantos and Kraven were sent to eliminate a threat to their clan. But when that threat turns out to be mostly human women, clueless of their lineage, plans change - especially after Drantos gets a taste of Dusti's blood. Now, he'll die to protect her. Even if that means walking away from everything he knows to keep her at his side.

Is her strong desire for Drantos reason enough to endure danger coming from all sides? Or should Dusti cut and run the first chance she gets?

Author Note: VLG stands for Vampires, Lycans, Gargoyles...and breeds in between. Living in Alaska's harsh, pristine territories, these creatures live and love fiercely. These are their stories.

Meh…

I didn't like this book as well as the Species series and I won't be continuing on, I barely finished this one. While I liked the whole Vampire, Lycan, Gargoyle aspect to the story, the rules not so much. It was also hard to like the book because I hardly liked any of the characters in the story. I did not like Drantos's clan. Everyone wanted Dusty to grovel at Drantos feet and continually told Dusty how she was not good enough for him. It was beyond degrading how everybody treated Dusty, especially since she was new to the clan and did not know the ways, they basically thought she was only good as a brood mare. Drantos also had a mentality of "Me Tarzan, you Jane, do what I say", which he later lightens up a bit on. Dusty was also annoying, half the time she was cowering behind Drantos and the other she was blindly running into danger without thought. Plus the whole book had a Damsel in distress vibe to it, which I wouldn't mind if I actually liked any of the characters. But mainly I like women with a bit of a back bone and isn't too stupid to live. Also I would have been fighting tooth and nail for my sister, that part of the book bugs me because they were separated at the beginning and then Bat is just gone. I know the next book is about her but that wouldn't fly in my world. The best part of the story was the narrator and I would certainly listen to her again.

The More I Listened, The More It Grew On Me!

Overall, I liked Drantos, but honestly it wasn't my favorite by Dohner.

Laurann Dohner is a talented writer who has created a complex world of lycans, vampires and gargoyles. The story's fresh, fascinating, full of humor, but there's a lot to take in with the characters, clan politics, and the history of these supernatural beings (it almost had my head spinning.) I believe die hard fans of shifter romances will appreciate the complexity and mix of these supernatural beings; however, I can tell this will be one of those stories where some will love it, while others will dislike it.

Some spoilers;
True to Dohner's writing style, there's a lot of heat, attraction and sexual tension between the H/h. In the beginning, it felt a bit forced but as the story progresses, the chemistry between Drantos and Dusti develops and becomes genuine. At times, Dusti's character could be annoying, and stubborn but at least she had a backbone. I actually felt bad for Drantos when he discovered she was his mate. Because of his clan's politics and their dislike of supernatural beings who have been diluted with human blood, Drantos had an uphill battle protecting, keeping and convincing his clan and Dusti of her place as his mate. From the moment he realizes Dusti's his mate, I loved how this dominate alpha's world changes as he becomes focused on making her happy and helping her fit in.

The subplot and characters were really good. Dusti and Bat were tricked by their grandfather, Decker, to come to Alaska for a sinister plot. He wants to use one of the sister as leverage to start a conflict between the different clans all in an attempt to gain power over all the clans. When Drantos's clan learns Decker is plotting something bad, Drantos and Kraven are sent to intercept and retrieve the sisters before Decker can put his plans into motion.

This was the first story I've listened to narrated by Savannah Richards and was impressed with how she portrayed the characters. She did a fantastic job!

I'm a huge fan of PNR's and loved both the New Species and Cyborg series! This is the first story in the VLG series I've listened too and thought it was intriguing but not as intense as her other series. I am curious enough to listen too the other audios that have been released; however, I would only buy these stories on a whispersync deal or sale and save my credit.

book was ok. too much sex not enough action.

Book was ok. could use less sex, more imagination and action. Characters are well thought out but lack depth. descriptions of characters and history, lineage are superb but story was lacking in appeal where skirmishes are concerned.

Dusty's Bitchy!

Ms. Dohner's always an automatic download for me, I love her books just that much! This one falls squarely in the middle range for me, I just felt that Dusty was such a whiny b-word and I never warmed to her at all! Still the writing of Dohner and the narration by Savannah Richards make this audiobook a buy, just don't expect to fall in love with Dusty!

5 Drantos Stars

I am a huge fan of Laurann Dohner, she makes any planet, place, or thing, made up or not easy to be a part of. And this book was just icing. If you have read her New Species or Cyborg or even the Zorn Warriors you know this is going to be one heck of a book.

Vampires/Lycans/Gargoyles books oh yeah you know it hot big strong possessive men.. Yummy. Wipes up the drool... :D

Drantos and his brother Kraven are VampLycans you guessed it a mix of both. And they are on a mission. Only it totally goes awry ha, that putting it mildly.

Dusti and Batina sister who appear to be human...are on a mission of their own, but again it gets thwarted right from the get go.

It’s kind of funny to watch two different worlds become one and how they have to deal with all the different things that come up. Drantos and Dusti match up in more ways than one. It is fun to watch them both be uncomfortable and how they over come so many things to be together.

I loved the audiobook it was like being there without being there. Savannah Richards does an amazing job with all the characters, defiantly recommend this book.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I LOVE THIS FREAKING BOOK!!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Any additional comments?

This book was full of hotness, lust, action and Alpha Males. I could not not stop listening even for Sunday football. This is a great listen. I guarantee in the first 10 min you will fall in love with these characters. Dusti is very mouthy but it's effective. I still wanted to gag her a couple of times while I would jump Drontos bones seven times a week and twice on Sunday. I hope book two is just as good. GET THIS BOOK.

Narration the best part! Don't auto buy 2nd book!

Would you try another book from Laurann Dohner and/or Savannah Richards?

Spoiler***
I am LD number one fan I have read cyborgs, too species, too mates etc. This book was a hell no. I am kind of mad some gave it four or five stars, first the story is about two sisters who are in a plane when it goes down then these big men wraps themselves around the women and then save them because of course their pretty much immortal. Finally the women are split up one in one direction and they never see each other again in the whole story. His family doesn't like her and they repeat the scenes so much you start to hate it. Not giving anything away but not much of a story. The girl don't understand his ways and he is taken from her, then she's kidnapped and then found then traded for her sister and then returned back to her mate. Who's family pretty much hates her because she can't shift and probably can't breed. The only thing she did good was convince a stranger that the hellbeast mad mainge. It's stupid and shouldn't be worthy of LD name.

Has Drantos turned you off from other books in this genre?

Yes! Don't auto buy, if this is the first book then I don't want to read the second one. I mean really this man is suppose to control her fowl mouth, balls to the wall woman by telling her to shut up and she does..and then shes not herself.
Savannah didn't have much to work with since not to many emotions played out in this story.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

As for a rewrite. How many times can you say lycan vamp? Or carry a woman around who passes out at the drop of a hat.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointed. I may return it. And I check for a LD book once a month. This sucked bad.

Boring boring boring

This book just repeats itself over and over. I was bored after the first chapter but tried to stay with it. Nothing has changed by chapter 14. I'm going to return it.

I don't speak GROWL!

I love Laurann Dohner's 'New Species Series' and her new 'LVG Series' doesn't disappoint.

The first sentence grabs you and doesn't let go until the end. Laurann has created a very sexy alpha male species with the VampLycan's and VampGargoyles. There's a lot of history to absorb with the VLG's but it's spread out thru the book so it's not so over whelming.

I fell for these VLG's right away along with Dusti and Bat. This book is funny, has suspense, action, and of course some hot sex.

The book starts out with all four: Drantos and Dusti; Kraven and Bat. After a few chapters they split up and this book focuses on Drantos and Dusti with mentions of Kraven and Bat.

If you're a fan of Laurann Dohner or a fan of paranormal romance you'll love the VLG series.

Savannah Richards give an all consuming performance.

Worth a credit...YES, YES, YES.
