A DEVIL’S BARGAIN
Easily the shyest Wallflower, Evangeline Jenner stands to become the wealthiest, once her inheritance comes due. Because she must first escape the clutches of her unscrupulous relatives, Evie has approached the rake Viscount St. Vincent with a most outrageous proposition: marriage!
Sebastian’s reputation is so dangerous that 30 seconds alone with him will ruin any maiden’s good name. Still, this bewitching chit appeared, unchaperoned, on his doorstep to offer her hand. Certainly an aristocrat with a fine eye for beauty could do far worse.
But Evie’s proposal comes with a condition: no lovemaking after their wedding night. She will never become just another of the dashing libertine’s callously discarded broken hearts —
which means Sebastian will simply have to work harder at his seductions…or perhaps surrender his own heart for the very first time in the name of true love.

So far I love all the books in this series. This one is charming, romantic, and sexy. I cant say enough about this series. I highly recommend!
I enjoy many types of books and am always looking for new authors to read and listen too. I enjoy reading the reviews and adding my own from time to time.
Surprise, Salvation, Love. Evangeline Jenner, the most timid of the wallflowers needs the help of Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent and he finds out that she is the salvation he needs too. It is nice to see their love develop. A very good book.
Sebastian is really my favorite though I also like Evangeline. It is fun to watch them learn and grow with each other. Sebastian does not realize he is looking for salvation of any kind. He is so afraid of failing in life as his father failed him. The two of them help each other to be what they should be.
As always she just does an excellent job of narration. My one exception here is the voice she chose for Sebastian. Unfortunately, it takes so much away from him as a rake and lover. I wish she had chosen a different one for him. I did like the voices for the other characters as some of them carry over from the previous two books in this series. She is very good at keeping the voices of repeating characters in books the same. Shows me that she knows the books or at least has read enough to know they had been in a previous book she narrated.
No, I just enjoyed the book in both written and audio forms.
Never judge a book by its movie
Equal but Different. Both Are FANTASTIC
St. Vincent, he is quite the character. He plays the heartless rake, who is hiding all his pain of the losses he has experienced.
Along comes Evie,
A Self Proclaimed Wallflower who is abused by her oh so proper family. St. Vincent begins to see Evie's strength and loyalty, and soon wishes to be part of that circle.
She is the best.
Her characterization of St Vincent is brilliant!
Loved the relationship bewteen Evie and her Father, (Gambling club owner Ivo Jenner, who is introduced in the novel Dreaming of You)
The relationship between Evie and Cam Rohan ( who gets his own story in Mine Till Midnight)
and of course St. Vincent and Evie....it's hysterical when she lectures him..and how the relationship changes after a little twist of fate....
You will love this book, but be careful,, reading this book may make you a historical romance junkie
I spin my own wool and knit. Listening to audiobooks while I craft is one of my favorite things. I'm hooked.
How on earth was Lisa Kleypas going to make a hero out of St. Vincent? That one question had me rushing to buy this book. By the end of the previous book in the series, I thought him the most despicable kind of reprobate. I defiantly set out to prove that there was no way she could convince me to like the cad. To pair him with sweet gentle Evie, my favorite wallflower? Oh how could Klypas be so cruel? Well, all I can say is I was half in love with the complex man myself by the end of the book, and her development and expansion of our shyest Wallflower's character was spot on. An absolutely fantastic read that was brought to life by Rosalyn Landor. Well done!
Viscount St. Vincent has to marry well and soon. His ruin is close and so he agrees to marry the stuttering Evangeline Jenner since she is to inherit a very large sum from an ailing father. The steamy romance begins shortly into the story and continues at the end with love.

Sebastian, Viscount St. Vincent -- what a hot mess. The total degenerate who, after marrying solely for money, discovers he has not only a heart but also a talent for running his bride's inherited business. I do believe that LK has created the hottest bad boy in all of Romancelandia (although Lord Dain is a close second).
Rosalyn Landor is a wonderful narrator, and although I thought at first that her St. Vincent voice was a little too pompous, it grew on me. All of her other voices were great. She is indeed one of the top audiobook performers out there.
After reading book 2, It happened one autumn, I thought Sebastian St. Vincent was just scum. I didn't think it was possible to redeem him after what he did to Lillian Bowman-Westcliffe. But obviously I forgot I was dealing with a master storyteller and Lisa Kleypas didn't disappoint. I know now not to doubt her because all I can say is Bravo, Ms. Kleypas, Bravo!
This one picked up right after book 2 ended. Sebastian St. Vincent was home nursing his bruises after his old friend Westcliffe gave him a beatdown. Evangeline "Evie" Jenner shows up and offers him a deal he can't refuse. Marry her and her fortune will be his. Evie basically exchanged her fortune for her freedom from her cousins. He needs money since he will inherit a title with no funds, and she has money but is imprisoned by her mother's family. They both needed help!
Their journey to Gretna Green began stripping both Sebastian and Evie, layer by layer, exposing the "lazy, aimless rake" as much more than he pretends to be, AND showing the "quiet, stuttering mouse" has much more fortitude than anyone realized.
What amazes me about Lisa Kleypas and this series is that no one H/h journey is quite the same. She may bring characters from prior books, but the individual story and road to HEA is unique to that couple. While I had hoped for a more drawn out fight with Evie's cousin, I had to admit that would been a predictable villain and storyline. Another great story and great installment to the Wallflower series
***Evangeline Jenner is Ivo Jenner's daughter from Dreaming of You. He owned the rival club to Craven's club (Derek Craven's club). Nice way to connect the series.
This is the third book in the Wallflower series, and probably one of my favorites in the series. There isn't one thing that I would change, including the most excellent of narrations. I also want to thank Audible for making available immediately upon it's release, thank you!
Totally loved St. Vincent and Evie. What a great match. The story continues with these two characters and brings the others back. Love that Lisa Kleypas does that without taking anything away from the main characters. Glad Rosalyn Landor was the narrator she brings the characters to life making the experience a wonderful one.
