Publisher's summary

Mallory Westin was born into power. But when her family's quest for more power caused her a broken heart, she turned her back on the only life she ever knew. Now a successful owner of a security firm, she's determined to forge her own path. But sometimes one's past isn't so easy to leave behind. Mallory has to take control of the power she was destined for after discovering her politician father is involved in an assassination plot. Things only get worse as the one man she's always loved becomes a target as well.

Reid Simpson had loved Mallory since they were teenagers. Then one night changed everything as she suddenly broke his heart. For years, he escaped the pain as he built his resort and casino empire. He pushed her from his mind, if not his heart. As Reid encounters increasing danger, he finds that Mallory is the one by his side trying to protect him.

Can Reid and Mallory work together to uncover the assassination plot while avoiding the pain of the past? Or will they discover that love has a way of conquering all?

Great Series! Great Story! Great Narration!

I really enjoyed this entire series. Book one started out a bit iffy but I am glad I kept with it because every story got better and better. I loved Mallory, I always liked her in every book and just knew hers would be so good. And it was. Mallory was beautiful, smart, strong, and a bad a$$! Loved her. And Reid, was great too. Handsome, strong, smart, rich and so in love with Mallory. They had some great chemistry together and a couple of hot and steamy nicely written sex scenes.

Loved the story line and plot. Assassination attempts, undercover CIA and romance. What's not to love!. The story flowed so well and was easy to follow along. There is a lot of dialogue through out the entire book. It was great.

This last book really was a great ending to a great series. it wrapped up the series perfectly. Well done Kathleen Brooks!

As for the narration. Amy McFadden gets better and better. The men sound like men, everyone gets their own distinct voice, she has a great reading voice and she reads with emotion as called for, whispering, yelling etc..

I totally recommend this series.

The best book in the series!

This book was more of what I had become accustomed to with Kathleen Brooks. The female was smart and independent and could handle things all on her own if need be. The other books in this series, especially 2 and 3, had some To Stupid To Live moments with the leading ladies. I don’t recall any of those moments in any other Brooks series. But anyway, this book is fun, suspenseful, fast paced at the perfect moments, and romantic.

The best of the series!

This was my favorite book of the series, though I loved them all. There wasn't a dull moment at any time. Lots of action, adventure and romance with plenty of laughter added in. What made it even better were the cameo's by some of my favorite Blue Grass characters. I don't think Kathleen Brooks could write a bad book if she tried especially if she continues to write about such strong women.

Good ending to the series

I have enjoyed reading these books. They are well narrated by Amy McFadden. The series is worth it just for Shirley. She's a hoot!

Destined for power

Oh my gosh.... all the Power books have been great but Mallory and Reed's story was the best. I never figured out the "who done it" until right before you revealed it. I love learning the back story behind Reed and Mallory. Shirley was a hoot as always! I especially loved how you gave every important character their happy ending! It was perfect. Thank you!
Have you ever thought about putting this series on Hallmark movie and mystery channel? You would have to make it a G rated version but your characters and story line would be perfect! I would love to see your book come to life! Thanks again. Great book. Great series.
Finally, Amy McFadden rocks!!!!!!!!! She makes every story come to life. Please do more! She is the best!!!!!!!!

Sad This Series is Over

I fell in love with this series from the first book. I have binged listened to all 4. This one is a great way to wrap up all the stories that have been opened or hinted at during the first 3 books. You will enjoy every moment of it.

Perfect ending to a great series..

Any additional comments?

WOW! This 4th book was exciting from the very beginning: spying, murder, attempted murder, a plane crash, plots for an assassination, a car chase, without any brakes, the FBI and the CIA, a lot of love and a little bit of sex. What more could you ask for?

I knew I’d like Mallory and Reid’s story the best, but I really did enjoy ever book in this series.

I didn’t like Mallory’s father or Ambrose or Liam or Black and Jonak. They were all great bad guys, vicious, evil killers or just plain old jerks.

I enjoyed this series. Everyone got their own HEA, including Shirley, who was my favorite character, and Reid’s mother, Margaret.

As usual, no sexual tension but nice sex scenes.

As to the narrator: As usual, Ms. McFadden did a wonderful job. I love her narrations.

Encouraging!

This series encourages the reader to binge on other books by the author. I like that the characters are mature in every sense and so are the storylines. The simple plots are all the same in this particular series. The lovers meet, declared their love for each other, deal with a life-threatening/relationship threatening issue together that solidifies the love interests and eminentoh lead to wedding bells. Nevertheless, it is the development of the plots that allows each book in the series to be unique and piqued the readerd's interests right into the next one. No cliff hangers just a heightened sense of curiosity. Enjoyable? Yes. Very.

Great conclusion to the series

I like how Ms. Brooks brings two of her “worlds” together. Kentucky Series and the Power. Plus I like how Malory’s past is revealed.
As usual, Amy McFadden does a fantastic job narrating.
