Publisher's summary

Seven McTiernay brothers, each a Highlander born to protect Scotland and her people, warriors known for their quick wits and quicker broadswords. The third brother, Cole, stared death in the face when he was only a boy...

Now Cole McTiernay is a man. And though he resists them in every way, he has responsibilities. The wild northern Highlands need a laird who can guide them to peace. Cole has the army strong enough to accomplish this task. What he doesn't have is the desire to be a leader among men.

And so he is sent off on a fool's errand: a mission to retrieve something from the very Englishmen Cole has spent his life hating. When he finds that the 'something' is a wild hellion, he balks, determined to make the return to Scotland as hard on her as it was for him to set foot on English soil. But though English herself, Ellenor intrigues him with her fierce spirit, and Cole's heart, deeply locked away for so long, may be vulnerable at last . . .

WHAT happened?

Michelle Sinclair usually writes a very enjoyable story. But it seems she let someone with virtually no concept of what it is to write with a purpose finish this one for her. The last four hours of this book Could have been finished in 45 minutes without skipping anything of significance! (I have no idea how many pages that translates into). Honestly, it was a complete waste of time added for no reason with no talent to tie up the beginning catalyst when one well written epilogue was all that was needed. I'm not sure why I stuck with it.
And it was such a shame to leaving a negative impression after such a very good story. It really did have great personalities and a interesting plot that grabbed your attention but lost it when the climax of the tale came 4 hrs before the end.

NARRATOR: Anne Flosnik is one of those love her or hate her performers. I've heard her called the book whisperer and admittedly it's a humorous way of describing her style of narrating. If you can get past that... the male and female voices are each very distinct personalities and if the story is intriguing she delivers it disappearing into the background herself and leaving the book to entertain, just the way it should be.

CREDITWORTHY? Yes and no... l like this series, so yes. But the last of it makes me lean toward NO. How much do you desire to hear this brothers tale? It was very good until the end, and I did want to hear Coles part of the tale, so for me its a yes.

HEAT FACTOR: STEAMY with the occasional full rolling boil.

Abrupt halt

This storyline was interesting and I enjoyed the characters, but I felt as if the author reached her number of pages goal, then quickly wrapped up and ended the book. The ending can only be described as unsatisfying.

Just Keeps Getting Better

This story grabs you from the start. The battle within Cole seems to never go away, then he meets Ellenor. This is another good book with a strong woman butting heads with a strong man. In it all you have fireworks.

The best narrator ever! 😍

This series would not be the same without Anne Flosnik as narrator. I started it just to listen to her voice but was pleasantly surprised how entertaining the Mctiernay brother’s romances are.
This one was my least favorite so far because it started feeling a little too long but I still enjoyed it. On to the next one!

Good but just okay...

So I started this series some time ago and decided to pick up on book three. I do love Michele Sinclair as an author and her highland historical romances. "Desiring the Highlander" was good but not as good as the other two in the series. The main characters were well suited and laughable at times. The narration by Anne Flosnik was superb as usual. I do love her as a narrator of historical romances.
