Publisher's Summary

Seven McTiernay brothers, each a Highlander born to protect Scotland and her people, warriors known for their quick wits and quicker broadswords. The third brother, Cole, stared death in the face when he was only a boy...

Now Cole McTiernay is a man. And though he resists them in every way, he has responsibilities. The wild northern Highlands need a laird who can guide them to peace. Cole has the army strong enough to accomplish this task. What he doesn't have is the desire to be a leader among men.

And so he is sent off on a fool's errand: a mission to retrieve something from the very Englishmen Cole has spent his life hating. When he finds that the 'something' is a wild hellion, he balks, determined to make the return to Scotland as hard on her as it was for him to set foot on English soil. But though English herself, Ellenor intrigues him with her fierce spirit, and Cole's heart, deeply locked away for so long, may be vulnerable at last . . .

What the Critics Say

"Once again Sinclair demonstrates her ability to touch [fans'] minds and hearts, keeping them enthralled. Her deft handling of her characters' emotional evolution, backed by her talent for presenting them in a plot that's both witty and sensual, is captivating." (RT Book Reviews)

    "WHAT happened?"

Michelle Sinclair usually writes a very enjoyable story. But it seems she let someone with virtually no concept of what it is to write with a purpose finish this one for her. The last four hours of this book Could have been finished in 45 minutes without skipping anything of significance! (I have no idea how many pages that translates into). Honestly, it was a complete waste of time added for no reason with no talent to tie up the beginning catalyst when one well written epilogue was all that was needed. I'm not sure why I stuck with it.
And it was such a shame to leaving a negative impression after such a very good story. It really did have great personalities and a interesting plot that grabbed your attention but lost it when the climax of the tale came 4 hrs before the end.

NARRATOR: Anne Flosnik is one of those love her or hate her performers. I've heard her called the book whisperer and admittedly it's a humorous way of describing her style of narrating. If you can get past that... the male and female voices are each very distinct personalities and if the story is intriguing she delivers it disappearing into the background herself and leaving the book to entertain, just the way it should be.

CREDITWORTHY? Yes and no... l like this series, so yes. But the last of it makes me lean toward NO. How much do you desire to hear this brothers tale? It was very good until the end, and I did want to hear Coles part of the tale, so for me its a yes.

HEAT FACTOR: STEAMY with the occasional full rolling boil.

"This 3rd in the series can't compare with first 2!"
What disappointed you about Desiring the Highlander?

This book is not worth a credit. I will try book 4 and hope it has the quality of book 1 and book 2.

What was most disappointing about Michele Sinclair’s story?

the story had great potential but just withered as it went on. I had also hoped it would have included bits from the story of Meckenna and Colin from book 2.

What three words best describe Anne Flosnik’s voice?

    Overly dramatic!.

"3.5 stars as another brother meets his match"

There's so many of these Highland Series out at the moment that me thinks that I'm not the only one drooling at the thought of a big brawny, claymore wielding, handsome hunk in a kilt (sigh).

Cole, the handsome hunk, is however cold, full of anger and is set on revenge and he hates the English (as to why you'll have to listen to it). He's given a mission by his manipulative sister-in-law to go to England a fetch 'a package' which is going to have far reaching consequences in his life. Ellenor's a smart, feisty, no nonsense, capable kind of woman but she too has demons in her closet and all men frighten her - but as soon as she sets eyes on Cole she feels drawn to him and safe, but there's a catch .... she's English.

Good romantic plot with a few sub plots, it was funny, had likeable characters, a villain or two, kidnapping, murder and, of course, a touching tender romance. However, I did slightly feel the plot peaked then dipped a wee bit and seemed to go on and on then suddenly there's a climatic abrupt ending and bang you're jumped straight into the Epilogue. But despite this, it was an enjoyable and entertaining listen.

Worth a credit? For anyone who's into men in kilts this series is a must - so AYE 'twas a gid book.
