Publisher's summary

It was just another after-work happy-hour bar downtown, where business professionals unwound with a few drinks, complained about the boss, maybe hooked up with someone for the night. Until something went terribly wrong. At first it was just a friction in the air. The noise intensified. The crowd seemed oppressive. Some sharp words were exchanged, some pushing and shoving.

Then the madness descended. And after 12 minutes of chaos and violence, 80 people lay dead.

Eve Dallas is trying to sort out the inexplicable events. Surviving witnesses talk about seeing things - monsters and swarms of bees. They describe sudden, overwhelming feelings of fear and rage and paranoia. When forensics makes its report, the mass delusions make more sense: it appears the bar patrons were exposed to a cocktail of chemicals and illegal drugs that could drive people into temporary insanity - if not kill them outright.

But that doesn’t explain who would unleash such horror - or why. Eve’s husband, Roarke, happens to own the bar, yet he’s convinced the attack wasn’t directed at him. It’s bigger than that. And if Eve can’t figure it out fast, it could happen again, anytime, anywhere. Because it’s airborne....

I am hooked on this series!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love the characters and it is hard to believe that I have listened to the entire series. Love the development of the characters and have recommended it to many friends! It is entertaining.

What did you like best about this story?

The Dallas/Rourke connection - it is not protrayed as a complicated relationship that they make work.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love her delivery and would be greatly disappointed to have anyone else read this series! She brings the characters to life!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No - I actually like to take breaks and then reflect back on the story.

Any additional comments?

I listen mostly in the car, and don't even have a long commute - or I listen on my lunch break - am amazed at how many books I am able to read and enjoy! I love auidbe!

They're still good

Any additional comments?

I've liked all the series and they still come up trumps even after such a long running series. It's amazing how JD Robb keeps it going. This is my favourite series of all

Best "In death" mystery in a while. Loved it.

In this long on going series, theres not much new you can say in a review. JD Robb's in death series is by far one of the best mystery/romantic suspense/police procedural series out there. Well written and consistantly surprising and addicting. This is book 35 in the series and I enjoy it just as much now, as I did when first read all those years ago. Every story slowly peels away another interesting layer of Eve's history and personality. Roarke maintains his mysterious persona and yet is the perfect partner, husband and his own badass self. I love all the supporting characters in this series. Peabody, Mcnabb, Feeny, Somerset, Mavis and all the rest of friends and family.
In this book, the case grabbed me from the first pages and I enjoyed the mystery a lot. Maybe I am biased, but this series in just perfect, never gets old, and each story and mystery are page turners. Susan Erickson does a great job on narration.

Love the "In Death" series

If you could sum up Delusion In Death in three words, what would they be?

Great story line with an extra twist at the end... not my favorite, but very close to the top! I enjoyed how she worked in the resolution of the "Divided In Death" Homeland character.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked the new character Agent Tinsley, who is extremely capable, collected, and ethical - giving me hope that not all of Homeland Security is corrupted. I hope she will appear again in another story.

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

I enjoy her different voices for characters, excellent reading, and pacing.

Really a great series.

What can I say, there isn't a bad one in the bunch. This was really good. Eve and Roark never disappoint. Robb has made characters that are so well done that at this point they are like old friends. Watching Eve and Roark evolve has been such a treat. All the secondary characters are equally wonderful and the plot always keeps you wondering. Hate that it will be another year for the next one.

Somerset and Dallas join forces for this one.

Where does Delusion In Death rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

High,

What other book might you compare Delusion In Death to and why?

Any of the IN DEATH books, this is as good as the first, 2nd, 3rd. Just because she can still keep our attention after so many of the future crime books.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

I just love Roark.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No just kept me intrigued

Any additional comments?

Just that these books need to keep coming.

Pure J. D. Robb

What did you love best about Delusion In Death?

Nora Roberts a.k.a. J D Robb is a master (mistress?) of creating great characters that one likes and villains that one can hate. You can't help pulling for the heroes in their trials. You know they are going to win out, but there is still the tension that makes it feel as if they could lose. The regular cast of characters is here in all their humor, intensity and charm.

Any additional comments?

I am a huge fan of Susan Ericksen. She can find things in a reading that I might not find for myself. More of a vocal actress than a reader she really brings the characters alive with her depth of understanding of the story and characters.

delusion in death was almost my death

After reading so many good reviews of this story, I decided to give it a shot. The story was sort of interesting, with a fresh kind of idea, but the narration was just grating and over the top. Now, I understand that the emotions of the characters were supposed to be over the top, because of the circumstances, but the screeching, screaming, abrasive way that their words were delivered left me unable to finish the book, even after turning the volume down and preparing myself for another incident to occur. I JUST COULDN'T TAKE IT!!!!!!! (as Ericksen would have stated it- )
