Publisher's summary

Auden Berezin is used to losing people: her father, her mother, her first love. Now, just when she believes those childhood wounds are finally healing, she loses something else: the soccer scholarship that was her ticket to college. Scrambling to earn tuition money, she's relieved to find a gig translating for a Russian minor-league hockey player - until she realizes that he's the same dangerously sexy jerk who propositioned her at the bar the night before.

Equal parts muscle and scar tissue, Aleksandr Varenkov knows about trauma. Maybe that's what draws him to Auden. He also lost his family too young, and he channeled the pain into his passions: first hockey, then vodka and women. But all that seems to just melt away the instant he kisses Auden and feels a jolt of desire as sudden and surprising as a hard check on the ice. After everything she's been through, Auden can't bring herself to trust any man, let alone a hotheaded puck jockey with a bad reputation. Aleksandr just hopes that she'll give him a chance - long enough to prove that he's finally met the one who makes him want to change.

New name is Delayed Plot hole: wtf moments abound

I really wanted to like this but.... Did no one edit this story? I liked the beginning alright, the characters were good the plot seemed good then, I think a 14 year old took over for instance the main character compares her self to Carry Bradshaw saying she used to drink all the time and go home with random guys like in sex and the city. But what she really means is that she drank a Pepsi and kissed a couple of guys. Cause she's a virgin who passes out after one shot and one mixed drink and a glass of water. oh and she says that's the most she has ever drank. so many what??? moments I just had to turn it off.

Eh

We have all the makings of a hot, amazing love story here: hockey player, Russian, kinda arrogant and standoffish. Sadly, this book was just boring. There was no heat, the scene where she lost her virginity was so unbelievable and poorly done, the heroine was such a huge cliche - could she have done anything else, all we needed was for her to be a master painter and she would have done and been everything known to man - there was no connection, nothing happened. We have an entire sideline about her family which doesnt really fit in and feels odd and initially I thought it needed to be cut, but at least it was a little bit of action in an otherwise barren book. This was my first and I do believe my last by this author.

Sweet story with my fav narrator

Def recommend this for all that love sports, romance, good friends, and sweet stories. The narration was wonderful as she did the accents pretty darn well so we could fully enjoy the story and the characters. The cover is beautiful too. I'm buying all books that McManus narrates as she's believable and always adds to the story. And I'm def downloading the next book by Henry. Excited to see who she focuses on next. Hopefully josh...

Delayed Penalty

Loved the Narrator. Excellent accent.
Story was ok. A little too much introspection in the story so overall it was just ok.

Great Hockey listen!

I don't listen to a lot of Sports Romances, but I really enjoyed this one. The authors writing was great, flowed well, and kept my attention. The narrator had an easy-to-listen-to style and voiced believeable character changes. I'll definitely listen to lore books by this author and narrator!
