Publisher's summary

Another delicious treat full of Southern sass, wit, and charm from the New York Times best-selling author of Savannah Breeze and Hissy Fit.

Chef extraordinaire Gina Foxton doesn't expect anything to be handed to her on a platter. After years of hard work, the former runner-up Miss Teen Vidalia Onion is now the host of her own local Georgia public-television show called Fresh Start, and she's dating the show's producer.

But when her show gets canceled - and she catches her boyfriend in flagrante delicto with the boss' wife - Gina realizes that she's meant for bigger and better things. Namely, a gig on national television.

The Cooking Channel is looking for its next big star, and Gina is certain that she fits the bill. Trouble is, the execs also have their eyes on Mr. "Kill It and Grill It" Tate Moody, the star of a hunting, fishing, and cooking show named Vittles. Tate is the ultimate man's man, with a dog named Moonpie and a penchant for flannel shirts. He's also a tasty side of beef with a swooning female fan base. All Gina has on her side are a free-spirited, college-dropout sister and a mother who calls every single day.

Little does Gina know, though, that she and Tate are soon to embark on the cook-off of their lives, spiced up by a little ingredient called love.

Easy listening, just a nice story.

What made the experience of listening to Deep Dish the most enjoyable?

The story was easy to get into, moved along fine. Had a good story.

What does Isabel Keating bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like her voice for all of the characters. She is easy to listen to. I actually looked her up to see what other books she has read.

Another Good MKA Book Served to her readers

MKA "dishes" up another great book. She once again skillfully serves her readers with deep and rich Southern Characters from Georgia. Although I highly recommend the book I think this audio book fell short on several counts. First, Audible needs to STOP with the abridged MKA books. Listeners lose out on the highly crafted details of the typical MKA story line. Next, Isabel Keating is always easy to listen to and adds soul to the characters, but for some reason this audio book was not her best performance. Finally, MKA wrote this book for a third party observation point. Her others books are told from the main characters point of view - I was disappointed with this.

Nevertheless, despite my comments you will enjoy this book. MKA is a great contemporary southern author.

terribly over-acted southern narration

I'm so disappointed to see that I somehow ended up with an abridged MKA book. But it does explain why it's such a less compelling story than the others...it's not the fully written story. Worse yet, this is the most disappointing narration of any of her books. It's excessively southern, almost like caricatures.
I wish I could exchange it for the real version.

My Choice For Worst Narration Ever

This is by far the worst book Mary Kay has written. The story might be better but the narrator takes away any chance of it being at the least entertaining. I am a fan of MKA but this is bad. Not interesting at all.
