Publisher's summary

Once Olympia Wingfield had been free to devote all her time to her true passion: the study of ancient legends and long-lost treasure. But now, with three hellion nephews to raise, the absentminded beauty has very little time for research. Which makes it seem all the more serendipitous when a handsome stranger strides into Olympia’s library unannounced and proceeds to set her world to rights....

Tall and dark, with long, windswept black hair, Jared Chillhurst is the embodiment of Olympia’s most exotic dreams…a daring pirate, masquerading in teacher’s garb, whose plundering kisses and traveler’s tales quickly win her heart. Yet all too soon innocent Olympia will discover the enigmatic and wickedly sensual Mr. Chillhurst is no lowly tutor but a future earl with a wealth of secrets – the kind that will lead them both on a perilous quest for a hidden fortune and a love worth more than gold.

Critic reviews

"A featherlight, warmhearted fantasy with lots besides bedroom frolics going on, and it's all in a modern idiom (only one "mayhap'"). Fans will welcome this perfect little popover of a romance." ( Kirkus Reviews)

Never found A character I liked

Not that I was expecting a deep plot but I found that it was very difficult to have any sort of empathy or hope for either of the main characters

WONDERFUL AND QUITE DIFFERENT

I half expected this book to be like a lot like all of the other historical romance books. I was pleasantly surprised to find it very different. Adding the children to the story made it different and a great joy. They were as fun as the main characters were wonderful. I loved the book from beginning to end. The mystery in the book was an added pleasure and kept me guessing.

One of my favorite Amanda Quick regencies

I love the characters and the story line. Feisty heroine and a man who knows how to appreciate her. The narration suits the genre.

Love the old Amanda Quick novels

Most people complain about the narrator but I was introduced to Anne Flosnick on a different series. I like how she portrays the characters and think that her representation of these books are wonderful. I love this book and even bought 2 copies in paperback because I read them so many times. The women in Amanda Quick books are so progressive for their times and make the books so enjoyable because of the trouble they cause the men in the books. I would recommend any book by Amanda Quick.

Great performance

I read the paperback years ago and loved it as I always love Amanda Quick books. The audiobook was a totally different experience. It brought the book to life highlighting the great characterization and wonderful plot line that Miss Quick imagines. Anne Flosnik gives a wonderful performance which totally draws you into the story.

Stop complaining about the narrator!

The narrator is wonderful! I just HIGHLY recommend you listen to her on 1.2 or 1.3. She talks a little slowly, which I can understand can make it drag a little bit, but you all don’t really understand how difficult it is to record an audio book. They need to read slowly, so they don’t make mistakes. Audible has the speed up button for a reason. The story was nice, but the ending was disappointing to me. All that work, and they don’t go after the treasure?! Hopefully there’s a sequel or something. Anyone appalled by sex scenes, there’s not as much sec as I would typically like, so your sensibilities shouldn’t be too shaken. It was cute, I really liked Olympia, she was adorable, I loved how she saw the true passion within her husband, when no one else couldn’t. You’ll enjoy it.
