All that I expected and more

This is Linda Howard's best book since Cry No More. It's a roller coaster action thriller from the the first word to the last. This is very much the heroine Drea's book . . . and she's a heartbreaker who had me pulling for her to overcome the daunting, yet self-imposed obstacles in the path to pulling herself out of a life empty of meaning. Hero Simon is a stone cold killer whom we know only in the moment -- no undercover Fed or good guy in disguise here. Howard delivers two seemingly unredeemable characters and grabs you by the throat with their story. There's pathos and humor, sin and redemption, and an unexpected kind of love story that takes off in a direction that I didn't see coming. It's a book that needs a second reading -- and that was no hardship for me. The first time through I was so caught up in the action that I missed the deeply layered nuances of Drea and Simon's finding love and redemption together. I simply loved this book!

Great book!

This book has it all: Unlikely heroine who has a supernatural experience and reforms, a super strong hero, baaad bad guys, reasonable and unpredictable plot and super steamy sex. I was totally entertained. If you like romances and suspense, this one's for you!

Fabulous - AWESOME

Second chances are not always given to people especially someone like Drea Rousseau who had a penchant for diamonds and powerful dangerous men. She had a good run with Rafael Salinas, a powerful crime lord who deals with betrayals by brutal elimination. She played it smart lasting two years by playing dumb, biddable and gorgeous. But Rafael made a big mistake when he pawned Drea off to the assassin as a bonus for a job well done. That was Rafaels first big mistake. Perhaps it was just what she needed to make a break and thats what she did, making him pay; oh, did she make him pay! Unfortunately, Rafael dispatched the assassin to track her down and kill her.

While the assassin was enticed by the two million dollar fee, he wasn't sure what he'd do when he caught up with her, for after their four hour afternoon delight of sex, he'd been moved by Drea, even if he hadn't taken up her offer to take her along with him after she begged him too. He chased and found her but a tragedy ended the conundrum as to whether or not he would have killed her. Knowing Drea was dead and he being the cause of it was something he would have to deal with and it changed him.

And with that Ms. Howard throws a delightful slice of paranormal into this story that gives Drea a second chance at both her life and changes others.

Simply FABULOUS; OUTSTANDING and one of the BEST BOOKS I have read this year! And to think this was my first ever book by this author [but believe me not the LAST!!!] ! Woo hoo! I could not put it down!!!!

Drea was left for dead and to all intents and purposes she was dead! This was the part where Ms. Howard blew me away; whether a person wants to subscribe to her theory or not. Unfortunately, this is also part of the story that I would rather not spoil for anyone else, suffice it to say, you will either love this angle or hate it!

All in all I loved LOVED this book!

Fabulous!!!!!!!

What did you love best about Death Angel?

Everything. It caught me right at the beginning!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Death Angel?

When Andrea died. I actually had tears rolling down my cheeks. I don't cry!! But this part I did. Don't won't to spoil the story but it was at the part when she went to the "place" and the indentity of the angel that gave her the second chance is revealed.

Have you listened to any of Joyce Bean’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time and it was very good.

Any additional comments?

Only a couple of sexual scenes in this book, at the beginning and the end, but this book is fantastic. I loved it!!!! It is worth the credit. I like numerous books but I'm rarely enthused about a book but this one satisfied me.

not enough dialog

Would you try another book from Linda Howard and/or Joyce Bean?

Yes

Would you ever listen to anything by Linda Howard again?

I am listening to one now

Did Joyce Bean do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes

What would have made this romance irresistible?

if there was more dialog between the charactors instead of the thoughts of the main charactors taking up most of the story. Made the love story passionless.

A good listen

I really like both this author and this narrator. The book is not my favorite of Linda Howard's, however I really enjoyed it. The emotional punch was strong and it did a great job of creating characters I wanted to know.

Ug...No more Linda Howard for me

So boring. The majority of the time is spent on characters thinking out loud, which makes for a boring book--most especially when the characters are stupid. Throw in some laughable philosophy on life after death, a sudden plot point of a stillborn baby and male character voices that all sound choked and froggish and you've got one terrible book.

I hate wasting my credits--save yours!

Glad I listened

This was good, a little dated, but still good.

Drea or Andie, or Andrea was a drug kingpin’s mistress. She’s happy living the life of luxury, acting like a bimbo, until she gets slapped in the face with just how disposable she is. So she decides to put her contingency plan into motion. And she runs.

It was exciting when she ran, a little scary, but a fun part of the story.

I would have liked to feel a stronger connection between Andie and Simon. For some reason, I felt like there was something missing but I can’t put my finger on what it was. Maybe it was that at the end he sort of pulled away instead of holding onto her tighter. It was sweet that he was unsure but I think it left me wondering just how solid they were. Or maybe it was that they still felt a bit like strangers even by the end.
