Publisher's summary

Twenty years ago Madeline Barker's father disappeared. Despite what everyone else thinks, Madeline's convinced her stepfamily had nothing to do with it. But the recent discovery of his car finally proves he didn't just drive away. Worse, the police find something in the trunk that says there's more to this case than murder.

With no other recourse, Madeline decides to hire a private investigator - even if the cops don't like it. Even if her family doesn't like it. But when P.I. Hunter Solozano begins to uncover some shocking evidence, someone in Stillwater is determined to put a stop to Madeline's search for the truth.

And that means putting a stop to her. Permanently.

Escalating suspense!

This is the third book in the Dead Trilogy. First there was Dead Silence and then Dead Giveaway and finally, this one, Dead Right. You should really start with the first one and then read second and third. Each book is unique, but it's easier to keep up with the characters if you start at the beginning. If you like a little bit of mystery, a little bit of romance, and a few surprises thrown in, you'll love these books. When I find an author, whose style I like, I'll read every book written by him or her. I was not disappointed with this one. It kept me enthralled until the end. I only wish there was more.

great series

Loved all 3 books - Glad I started with the 1st and ended with Dead Right. The only thing that would have made them better was if they were all read by the same person. Once you become familiar with a character it seemes funny when they sound so different in the next book.
Which there were more to come

Just OK

Perhaps it's just me, but I found Madeline's character to be simpering and irritating more times than not. The schemes she instigated were ridiculous and dangerous, and she thought nothing of the consequences for the others she involved. She came off as extremely immature and selfish for a 36-year-old woman. While it was nice to finally get an ending to the stories outlined in the previous two books (which were great, by the way), I just don't think her character deserved an entire book to tell her story. Someone her age should have had more common sense and insight.

Oh, and the narrator was horrendous! I listen to A LOT of audio books, and she is about the worse I've had to suffer through.

this was not my favorite

I must say that I liked the closure of this book to find out the out come but I must say this seemed to long in coming for me the pedophile side of these books were hard to read....
This book is not for everyone it is graphic and hard to relate to in some ways but the truth shows that it always comes out in the end, if you can handle reading about pedophiles you will be ok but this book has some ugly parts.

bad southern accents

I have enjoyed this series of books. It's set in northeast Mississippi near where my daughter lives. I grew up in Mississippi and now live in Alabama. This had some of the worst Southern accents I've heard on audio. There are also many mispronunciations of geographic names. Of course, if you are unfamiliar with the area, this won't bother you. The story was good, but listening to it was not a pleasure. This is not the same narrator used in the first two books of this series.

BDSM and Pedaphiles Part 3

More sadistic sexual violence, more endless family drama, more murder and secrets; not entertaining or romantic.

What a great series!!!

Although you could read them along, I am glad I read them in order. Great, suspenseful series. Only thing that would have mad it better would have been in Christian Rummel had read all three. Karen Stein did a good job. I would suggest if you can't do the southern (or any other) accents well, don't attempt to--just read the book. I cleaned all day and finished the book. Will listen again and also will find other Brenda Novak books to listen to. I love romantic suspense books with bite to them. This whole series did the job.

This book is insulting to the south...

I'm two hours in to this book and the author has already covered every possible slighting southern stereotype – uneducated, inbred, and dirt poor. I don’t even know what the story is about…

Great suspense, great author!

I read Every Waking Moment and loved the book so much I looked for other books by Brenda Novak. I was not disappointed when I bought the entire "Dead" trilogy. She is a wonderful author who has created the perfect mix of Romance and suspense.
