Publisher's summary

A dark storm is on the horizon.... Return to Christine Feehan’s “steamy and dreamy” (Publishers Weekly) world of her New York Times best-selling Carpathian novels as roiling passions collide in a perfect storm of dangerous desire that only a precious few can hope to outrun....

Awakening after all this time in a world of absolute darkness and oppressive heat, Dax wonders in how many ways the world above must have changed. But it is how he has changed that fills him with dread and loathing. Buried alive for hundreds of years in a volcano in the Carpathian Mountains, Dax fears that he has become the full-fledged abomination that every Carpathian male fears, a victim of the insidious evil that has crept relentlessly into his mind and body over the centuries.

But there are some things that never change.

His name is Mitro, the vampire Dax had hunted all these long centuries. Second in command to the prince of the Carpathian people he is the epitome of everything malevolent, and perpetrator of one of the most shocking killing sprees known to man - and beast. Even his friends and family weren’t safe from Mitro’s bloodlust. Neither was Mitro’s lifemate, Arabejila, an extraordinary woman with extraordinary gifts.

But now that Dax has re-emerged, so too has Mitro. The ultimate battle between good and evil has been re-engaged. Between Dax and Mitro, a violent game has begun - one that has marked Riley Parker, the last descendent of Arabejila, as the reward.

Love those Carpathians

What made the experience of listening to Dark Storm the most enjoyable?

Returning to the Carpathian world. Christine has woven so many different characters into an evolving storyline. It's nice to meet new characters and revisit older ones.

What did you like best about this story?

Loved the dragon

Which scene was your favorite?

Loved the courtship ritual. It brought new hope for the Carpathians.

Any additional comments?

I had hard time with the female narrator. I did get used to her. Of all the narrators that have done Christine's books Phil is my favorite. But Erik does a great job too!!!!

A different courtship.

When I first listened to this series, somehow, I did not listen to this book in the order it was meant. I’m not sure how I missed it but, apparently I did. I had to adjust my thinking because this book is quite a bit back in time, compared to the current last book in the series; but I was able. The one thing about this book that is unique, is the courtship between the Hero and the Heroine. In this book, the Hero has been locked inside a Volcano for hundreds of years. Therefore, he has not experienced the gradual changes, in the Carpathian culture, or the slow progression of technology. Gary is in this book and the Hero is able to acquire some knowledge from him, after feeding. However, he handles the courtship of his life mate in the way that he remembers it done from time passed. Therefore, there were some different rituals and the pace was slower than the other books. The change was nice and somewhat refreshing. Therefore, I think this will always be one of my favorites, in this series. Worth a credit? Absolutely, YES!

Feels like home

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely, I have read ever book in this series, and the story seems to lead back to the original storyline. If you are a big fan of the Dark Series, this will remind you of Falcon and Sara's story, Traian and Joie or Dayan and Coriane. Where the lifemate recognize each other right away and they come together to defeat the vampire, and at the same time are very comfortable with each other and truely love each other. No violence to win them. One of my favorite in the series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The dragon was my favorite. Even as he was dying and giving a piece of himself to Dex he never gave up is spirit.

What about Erik Bergmann and Kristine Ryan ’s performance did you like?

Very good performance. I like that Feehan's uses both a female and male voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It didn't make me laugh or cry, but it did make me feel that the storyline was going back to the original storyline.

Any additional comments?

I was glad to see that Jasmine and Jubal were getting close. I also like all the interaction with the other characters.
