Publisher's summary

Dominic, of the Dragonseeker lineage - one of the most powerful of the Carpathian lines - is desperate to go to the very heart of the enemy camp and learn their plans. There’s only one way to do so: ingest the parasitic blood of a vampire. He knows that it is a mission from which there is no return. With little time before the blood takes effect, he’ll get the information he needs, relay it to the leader of the Carpathians, and go out fighting. There is no more honorable way to end his life.

Solange Sangria is one of the last of the jaguar people, a royal pureblood, a dying species that cannot recover from bad decisions made over hundreds of years. She has long been alone, fighting to save the remaining shapeshifters from the hands of Brodrick the Terrible: her own father, who slaughtered her family and everyone she loved. Wounded and weary, she plans one last battle, hoping to stop the man who has made an alliance with the vampires, accepting that she will not come out alive.

They are two warriors who have lived their lives alone. Now, at the end of their time, they find each other - an obstacle neither saw coming, and which neither can hope to ignore.

I love all of Christine Feehan’s books...

...and I really love the dual narration versions with the echo or tunnel effect for mental communication. The Carpathians use telepathy a lot and the changed sound helps keep it separate from verbal, as often there are two conversations going at once. I love Phil Gigante’s voice for the males, he has a lot of range. The female voices I’ve heard are great also.

I liked it, but didn't love it!

The Dark Series is such a good series, and this did not quit meet up with some of the others (Dark Curse, Dark Slayer). I think I was missing the interaction with other characters like Dominic and Solange's family. The middle was a little drawn out, and I think interaction with the other characters would have tied it together well. But over all I liked it.

A wonderful Carpathian novel!

I love the strength of The characters individually. Meeting them in previous books, I would have never paired them up but they are explosive together. I simply love this story.

The narrators are great together as well and magically weave this tale bringing them to life! They are great in the other books as well! I’d love to hear them narrate Falcon and Sarah’s story... he is still my favorite.

One of my favorites

Narration was wonderful! Great pace and plenty of plot line to move the story forward.

Unexpectedly Awesome

Great listen. After meeting Solange in Dark Possession, hearing this story was a total shock and surprise to me. She is nothing like what i expected, but it is so right!!! She is a woman through and through and she was just so funny to me. A must read for any Dark Series fan.

A Brand New Addiction

I've been a fan of the Dark Series for a couple of years now, and I've read every book. I know they aren't great literature, but they *are* one of my favorite guilty pleasures -- and they're very well done for the genre. I wasn't entirely sure how I'd like them on audiobook, but I was very pleasantly surprised! Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross do a superb job with the narration and the dialogue -- and Gigante has that deep, sexy voice that is very much like I'd imagine a Carpathian would speak.

I've listened to two other audio versions of Dark Series books, and they weren't bad but not nearly as well read/acted as this one. I'd love to hear Gigante read "The Dark Prince."

This is just personal preference, but I think all of these books should be read by a male/female pair -- and preferably one as talented as these two. Because the characters are such strong masculine and feminine archetypes (in some ways), it seems especially discordant to have male roles read by women, and vice versa.

Excellent readers

First meeting Dominic in Dark Symphony when he comes to Byron's aid to heal him. Just a glimpse into the ancient. We hear about the Dragonseeker in many books. I haven't listened to that book as yet but I have listened to others such as Dark Demon, He was one I waited a long time for his story and it was worth the wait. Especially with Natalie and Phil reading. They really bring the books to life. dividing out the characters and even the special sound effects when they are communicating telepathically. I found I had a difficult time putting it down. Solange was first introduced in Dark Hunger I believe. Juliette and Riordan's story where Jasmine was also introduced, She made a come back in Dark Possession which was also a great listen.

Good Read

Captivating story line. Saddened about demise of species. Glad Broderick burned Dragon Seemed style.
