Publisher's summary

When Destiny was only a child, her family was murdered and she was transformed into a Carpathian: a powerful and shadowy creature of the night, but not quite a vampire. Destiny shares a telepathic connection with Nicolae, her mentor. But now Nicolae needs to find her, or he may lose his soul and succumb to darkness forever.

New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan skillfully weaves strands of the paranormal and romance to create her suspense-filled novels.

Critic reviews

"This out-of-the-ordinary romance is deeply sensuous with exquisitely detailed lovemaking and equally vivid paranormal battle scenes involving shape-shifting, running up walls, heaving fireballs, and dragons erupting from the earth. Although this is part of Feehan's popular Dark series, it's quite accessible to readers new to the world of the Carpathians." ( Booklist)

Good Book...Disappointing Narrator

I really like the Dark Series. Have been reading them all. But the narrator. UGH His female voices are, in my opinion, terrible. And his male voices are just plane irritating. I will finish the series...he has I think 3 or 4 more books as the narrator. I hope I can make it.

Touching

Christine Feehans books are remarkable. They combine imagery, emotion, complexity, and darkness in such a loving way. There is no other for me that can write a paranormal book this way all her books including this one are intriguing. Nicolae and Destiny are compeling characters who do not let adversity stand in their way. The ancient language and the code of natural healing along with the idea of a community coming together almost seems like something we should emmulate today. I only wish that men were as caring and concerned as Feehan's character are but not as bossy and controlling. Yet Feehan is not stingy in the sexual erotic area. These couples are highly sexual! They might even make you quiet hot under the collar. The stories all generally follow the same plot with some variations but it's always nice to see what new setting or situation is going on. Each book links them in some way to the previous ones but Feehan does not dwell too much on the previous characters unless it is in some way an integral part of the story. Her books are always good reads.

My Favorite Couple

I just wanted to say that the story of Nicolae and Destiny is by far my favorite story in this series. I agree about the narrator, but the story itself is great! I really like the dual narrating they have in book 20 and hope they keep with that theme! But again this love story is by far my favorite in the series!!

I read them all

I've read them all and i found all but a few enjoyable this was one of the better ones, the narrators was pretty good, There are only a few of the books where the women characters seem to have some substance, dark possession, Dark Melody, dark destiny,
dark demon, and a few others I can't bring to mind now, but over all the series is pretty good I was dissapointed when I finished, but based on some of the new characters development in previous books there are plenty more to pull from, I would like to see more of the self sufficient female, not waiting around waiting to be save???(gag)

Good Book, Bad Narrator

I love the Dark Series by Christine Feehan. This book is great and well written, the only thing is that the narrator sounds like an old man. No romance in his voice, every character he protrays sound like an old man. I could not get into the book like I did the others that Juanita Parker or Rebecca Cook narrated. Over all a good book if you can get pass the voice.

narration was painful to listen to

What would have made Dark Destiny better?

different narrator

What other book might you compare Dark Destiny to and why?

?

How could the performance have been better?

better voice characterization; less monotone.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dark Destiny?

NA

Any additional comments?

I could not finish listening to the book. I was too focus on trying to figure out what character was speaking.

Dark Destiny

Great story but the narrator's voice had me picturing a group of elderly carpathians. It made it very hard to really see the book as I knew it should be. I can't bring myself to listen the next in the series since it has the same narrator.

Christine's done it again!

What can I say...I have been hooked on Christine Feehan's books since the first time I picked one up and couldn't put it down; she has quickly become one of my favorite writers! This book has all the fire and ice any reader could ask for. Where can I get a Carpathian?! LOL!!
