Publisher's summary

In the new Carpathian novel from number-one New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan, a woman falls prey to the seductive allure of the past - and a vampire warrior's intoxicating embrace....

The moment Charlotte Vintage walks into his club, Tariq Asenguard's blood is set on fire. The ancient Carpathian had given up hope of finding his lifemate, but now he will do anything to make Charlotte his own. What Tariq doesn't know is that Charlotte is using herself and her best friend as bait - to try to draw out the bloodthirsty killers who have already murdered Charlotte's brother and mentor.

Charlotte is familiar with Tariq. Not only is he one of the richest and most eligible bachelors in the city, but he's also a renowned collector of old carousel horses, which Charlotte restores. Their shared passion opens Charlotte up to trusting him with her life and with the desire she can no longer control. But it also makes her vulnerable to a centuries-old curse that will unite her and Tariq in a war against the enemies of humans and Carpathians alike....

Challenging

I love this writer... her characters had such depth and charisma! The romance was teasing , fun and exciting. Unfortunately we have moved to sex as the intro, middle and end ! Where is the story? This is just another 50 shades with a lot of nothing in between 😟. So sorry to see this writer move in the sex come first above all else direction... When I need a Christina fix I'll stick to her earlier work. Don't waste a credit on this one; go to the library and borrow that way you want feel cheated. It has been a challenge to finish the book!

BRAVO CHRISTINE FEEHAN VERY WELL DONE!!

Where does Dark Carousel rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In the top 50

What other book might you compare Dark Carousel to and why?

Dark Slayer, Dark Legend and Dark Curse!! because they are so well written with the right amount of romance and adventure

Would you be willing to try another one of Jim Frangione’s performances?

If I have too, but I was not impressed with his voices of the children or the females. Badly done. I wish Christine Feehan had used a women and a man narrator as she has done in the past.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

DARK CAROUSEL!!

Any additional comments?

CHRISTINE FEEHAN IS BACK!! WOW!! Did she make a splash of a return. I feel like an old lost friend has been found and returned to me. I have been reading Christine's books since 1998 and for the past 1 1/2 I felt disappointed in her books. But what a come back she has made. Dark Carousel is exciting, the battles with Vadim Malinov whom fans that have read all 30 books in the Dark Series will know is using Xavier's old techniques with a new an modern twist to kill all Carpathian's and Humans alike. Vadim is almost as gruesome in his torture as Xavier was. There are similarities from prior books Dark Curse and Dark Slayer and a little bit of Dark Legend. These similarities have been modernized and expanded on. They have a whole new twist to them. The Carpathian World has grown bigger an moved into the 21st century. We get to meet new Ancient Carpathians and the new world order of Human Hunters. The Morrison center is back in play. The repeated sex scenes have been greatly reduced, so no one can complain about that. Dark Carousel is all about the story and the romance between two wonderful lead characters Tariq Asenguard who is an ancient Carpathian Hunter and Charlotte Vintage who restores old paintings and carousels. Tariq is everything you hope for an more in a Carpathian Hunter. He is all Alpha Male. Long time fans have been waiting for his story for years and they wont be disappointed in him. Oh I want a Tariq of my own!! I just love him and Charlotte is a brave and intelligent human with psychic abilities her an Tariq are perfect Lifemates and grew to have a beautiful romance and love for one another, build on mutual respect and equal partnership. I love Charlotte too. I guess the only problem I had with the story was the abuse of children, but I can't see how the story would not have been as strong and compelling if that awfulness hadn't accrued. The children are from the novella Dark Crime. In Dark Carousel we learn of there plight when they were captured by Vampires in Dark Crime. But somehow CF was able to tell there story without too much gory details. We have to use our imagination to figure out how bad they had been scared and tortured by Vadim and his puppets. Christine Feehan has really UPPED HER GAME!! She is the Queen on Paranormal Romance and has returned with her old style of writing but at the same time bringing the Carpathian World into the 21st Century.
I have been one of her critics of her past few books, but now I eat my words. I hope she stays on this path!! and I can't wait for the next Dark Book.

BRAVO CHRISTINE FEEHAN!!! VERY WELL DONE!!

Disappointed

I have all Christine's book but have been disappointed in the last two. I have just started with Audible and it seems that most of the book is just sex. Very little in the story. When reading I can fast forward which I can't with audible, so maybe they all have been like that. Hope not. She used to be my favourite author but now Sherrilyn Kenyon is.

More to come I hope

This story just lends itself to at least 7 more Dark series stories. Hopefully with lots of story and small bits of sex thrown in. The 3 ancients need their own story. the other two ladies that Viden wants, The four kids and Emmalene all need their own story. We also need to know how the kids were transformed before they get their story. I know you have already begun these books I just wanted you to know that my credits are waiting for them to come out. Keep writing Ms Feehan and I will keep listening. I loved this story because it was a full story like the first Dark books and not just a little story thrown into a sex book. thanks for going back to the original style. I like a good sex scene but it should be a minor part of the story.

She left me hanging!!!

This was a very good book but I do wish she would shorten the sex scenes after a couple of paragraphs it gets boring and she drones on and on until I have to fast forward. All in all the story was good and I can't wait to see who the other Carpathians are. On pins and needles.

Bodice ripper with captain kirk narrating

Would you try another book from Christine Feehan and/or Jim Frangione?

There is no way I would go near the narrator again. The womens and childrens voices were just awful, making them women especially sound breathless. Actually, he didn't do womens voices, just random inflection. I've read Feehans books before but I think I must have skimmed through the constant over describing and gushingness. The idea of the story is all that keeps me going.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I don't know if I will make it that far. The narration is THAT bad.

What didn’t you like about Jim Frangione’s performance?

If by performance, you mean "reading"? Terrible, with no real attempt to do voices properly. Overly dramatic pauses etc - AWFUL. Like listening to captain kirk, with pauses at the stupidest places

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Less gushing, realistic dialogue and a better narrator

Any additional comments?

Read it if you have to, don't listen to this
